So, I'm deciding on my bouquet at the moment.....

Can you tell by looking at them that silk aren't real? Is there any difference visually?

I want real flowers but I also want to keep my bouquet - so you see my dilemma!

I'll be having a french bouquet of roses with the stephanotis, have any of you had this in silk?

This is entirely my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs...

I went to a wedding once that used silk flowers and you could tell they were fake unfortunately and from what I heard David Tutera says "silk flowers are a big no no", lol. if you want to keep your bouquet, why don't you do the keepsake bouquet preservation. They take your bouquet, freeze it and put it into a frame of your choice which you can add your hubby's boutonniere and/or a wedding picture. Also, in my opinion we should all splurge on our bouquet, its the one day you should get everything you want (with in reason, of course lol)...which im doing and then going to preserve it.

Here's the website...http://www.keepsakefloral.com/... a lot of brides here have used them and for Disney Brides they pick up your bouquet right at your resort.

I'm not sure about silk, but I had dried flowers. Mine were wheat and lavender (so I guess they are not technically flowers). I really loved my bouquet, and plan to keep it for as long as possible.

I realize most people probably wouldn't like this, but just thought I would put the idea out there :goodvibes

Mine was silks for that exact reason. Everyone thought it was real and had to come touch it to believe it wasn't. Disney uses very high quality silks. There is usually a small upcharge, but way less than using Keepsake floral and it looks identical after the wedding as it did the day you got married, unlike a preserved bouquet.

Silk flowers are a huge no no IMO! I think they are obviously fake and anyone who tells you otherwise is just being nice. But, that's just my opinion.

If you want to keep your bouquet after the wedding just have it preserved!

I guess I'm in bad taste and a huge no no....

I'm using silk flowers.

Regardless of what anyone says, including David Tutera (unless he is paying for your wedding), use whatever you like/makes you happy.

My flowers were all fake. No one noticed until we showed them. Nor did they care, honestly. Once the ceremony was over the focus was on the food and dancing.

Thanks ladies.

I feel that I will go with real, and the keepsake floral really appeals to me.

But I have no clue how they'd survive a journey across the Atlantic!

I would definitely give them a call, i'm sure they have done it before, so i wouldnt worry...

Totally agree, it's your day, do whatever makes you happy :)

I agree, do what makes you happy. I am using real (just being able to smell the flowers all day will be wonderful) but might get a silk set for my MK photo session (sorry David Tutera :rolleyes1) I have seen some silk flowers that look very real. I would suggest if you go with silk to make sure you get a really good quality. If you go with Keepsake Floral I am sure they will package it up very carefully so it will make the trip home.

Boardwalk Bride, I saw your wheat and lavender bouquet and loved it! It was beautiful and such a unique idea!

I personally don't care for silk flowers. I loved having a big fresh bouquet. I did use keepsake and couldn't be happier.

Have you had a look at some of the bouquets on Etsy? I am having a button bouquet. I know it sounds a bit mad but I think they look great and will survive the plane journey there and back. As a florist, I always thought I would have fresh flowers. But the more I think about it I would much rather have something fun that I can keep forever.

I am using silk flowers for mine and the BM's bouquets, I have seen them used in other weddings and think they look fine. I am doing it to save money, I would just rather spend it something else for my guests. If money were no object, I would deff. get real, but to me it's one area I can cut and be happy with the decision.

I just looked up button bouquets and OMG do I LOVE them!!! I wish I would have known about those when I got married.

I used silk and I don't regret it at all. They looked real and I didn't have to pay to preserve it.

Do what will make you happy and don't worry about what others will think. Everyone is going to have their own opinion and you can't please everyone.

They are great aren't they! Really go with my whimsical wedding theme. :goodvibes

I saw a few in creams and silver that were elegant looking, but then others were really colorful and fun. I even found an Alice in Wonderland (my favorite) one!

I love silk flowers, esp. for sentimental arrangements I want to keep. Bridal bouquets are lovely and meaningful, whether they are real, silk, buttons or whatever! I love seeing all of the beautiful bouquets. I'm sure yours will be wonderful!

Sarah (Orangetiggs) had silk flowers, and I thought they looked great, so I'm going with silk too.

I hope she doesn't mind me posting it

I didn't want to go with keepsake for a couple of reasons - 1. The cost!! 2. The length of time it takes for them to preserve them, we'd already be back home by the time it was done, and postage would be astronomical. 3. Customs doesn't allow plant matter through. So it may not even make it home :sad2:

I'd consider using real flowers for the decorations and table arrangements and the like, but for my bouquet I want to take it home. :lovestruc

My mom (who is really crafty) and I are looking at silk.... I am justifing it bc then I can have a BOC at our DP!!!
