Silicone baking pans and cookie mats

I just heard about silicone baking pans and silipat baking mats on Oprah show. Let me tell you they are awesome. For the cookies I placed the mat on the cookie sheet and then cooked my cookies. I forgot them and they turned out perfect anyways.

I also made a crustless quiche. Nothing was stuck to the pan. With all the holiday baking coming up I wanted to mention this.

I use the silpat mats on my air-bake cookie sheets. The silpat is expensive but worth every penny! It is almost impossible to burn the bottom of your cookies! No more greasy cookie sheets. Much easier to clean up.

I just have wondered...how long do they hold up? Have you used them for quite a long time?

I have been using mine for at least a couple of years now. I make cookies every few weeks.

Does anyone know where to find these at any kind of discount? Boy are they expensive!

I've gotten mine at the kitchen outlet stores in MA and Maine. They were $20 each. I know it sounds expensive, but I wouldn't bake without them.

I used to use parchment paper all the time and just switched to silpat. I got mine at Williams Sonoma for $20 each. They are worth their weight in gold. Nothing sticks to these things, they are utterly amazing! They wash up like a snap. How did I live without them? Today I saw that they have a Roll-pat, same technology, bigger sheet to roll dough on. It was 42 bucks and I could not bring myself to do it, but I will try rolling small amts on my regular cookie sheet sized silpat.

Oh, aunties, do you like your airbakes? The only time I ever burned a batch of cookies was on one of those! What's the trick?
