I have read a lot of people post that the silhouettes at DL are awesome souviners. From the pictures I've seen they look good and I want to get one of DS. I read they are $9 for 2 then you can buy a frame for a little extra. Does anyone know how much they are? Also, how big are the silhouettes? Some of the pics I've seen make them look huge, but the pics of the people cutting them they look tiny.

We just had these done last week. The silhouettes are $9 a piece and you get 2 opposite cutouts of it. The frames are $9.95. They paste each silhouette onto a card that has an oval printed frame and says Disneyland. The card is 5x7 so would technically fit in any 5x7 frame. At first I did not buy the frames but went back the next day to buy the frames since I decided that they would look great in them.

The silhouettes are very cool. My girls keep commenting on the fact that she even got their eyelashes in the cutout.

The actual cut out of DD8 is 4x2.5 and of DD6 is 3.5x2.5. Looking at them next to each other they look the same size.

I had no idea you could get a "cheap" souvenir at DLR! We are definitely getting one next time, I can't believe they're only $9!

They are beautiful and I already treasure them. I hung my frames on the wall and I plan to put the copies in the girls scrapbooks from DL.

We did this last visit. It is AMAZING to watch the CM working the scissors. We went during the evening and it was "Angela" who did silhouettes of me and my husband together, and then dd and Minnie's profile together, and she was wonderful.

We also got the frames because I knew I would drive myself crazy trying the find frames to recreate the lovely presentation the Disney frames achieve.

A really unique treasure.

My favorite souvenir ever. :) This is my girls, we bought the frame at Target on clearance for about 5 bucks, the pins were all traded for in the parks. We have the Pooh set as well but didn't add them because we didn't think it would space out right. As you can see the silhouette doesn't fit exactly into the frame, that works for me because I like the way the whole thing turned out, but if I hadn't decided I wanted to do it this way I would have bought a frame from DL. Also, be aware that you can take in a photo and have a silhouette done from the photo!! They have the cutest Lady & Tramp set and we joked about bringing pics of our dogs in to have them done, they told us it was absolutely possible to do a silhouette from a photo. :)

Here's one that DD and I took with my service dog. He was in the park with us, so she did his just like she did ours:

Here's one with our older dog (pet, not SD) right before he passed away. This was done from a photograph. NOTE: they said it's always easier for them to do if the picture is a profile.

Here's the line-up on my window sill. My only regret is not starting the collection sooner!

We plan to take a picture of my grandson with us so we can start getting them when he's young :goodvibes

So they can do it from a photo that isn't a profile pic? I have a friend who's DS passed away a couple years ago. I was thinking of surprising her with one of these, but I cant find a profile pic of him.

I'm not sure. You could certainly try! The lady I worked with agreed to do ours because it was a profile. It may be different for 'human' subjects though - she said humans are easier. I think this would be a wonderful gift! You're a thoughtful friend!

how nice--where are these done in the park?

There's a little shop on Main Street. If you're walking toward the castle, it's on the right side.

Buy the frame when you get it done. I had my DD done at 2 and 4 (I think, might have been 2 and 3) (oh dear) and they are still not framed as I never found the right frame :( But she's only 4 still so I guess it's not that bad, haha

They are wonderful!! You won't regret it. isn't it Sylvia that has been there the longest? She did our second one.

They fit perfectly in the simple black 5x 7" frames from WalMart that cost a dollar. I have all nine of the grandkids on a wall from when they took their first trip, and have my three kids on a different wall as adults (why we never did this when the kids were little is beyond me) I love that you get 2 copies so I keep one and give the other away.

You could always call and order the frames. They will happily ship them to you. Disney DelivEARS 800-362-4833

Ditto about buying the frames! I still haven't framed ours and it has been several years! I am going to have new silhouettes done of the kids on our upcoming trip and will then purchase 4 frames!

What a wonderful gift!!! I say take a photo or two and see what they say. :) They may actually tell you to come back when Sylvia is there, she is simply amazing! She did the one I posted above and it took her about 5 minutes! She's also the one who told us we could bring in photos of the dogs to have them done. She said she's done dogs, cats, horses, birds......

Yup, about halfway down MS on the right as you walk towards the castle, you can't miss it if you're looking for it, there are tons of framed silhouettes in the windows.

It was on this message board where I read that Sylvia was the best and that she did silhouettes of animals. I'm so thankful for that to this day because the silhouette of my cat, Amber, is my favorite souvenir.

The memory I have of it being done is almost as wonderful as the silhouette itself. I brought in a picture of Amber that was as close to a profile shot as I had of her at the time, and as Sylvia cut the silhouette, a crowd began forming outside the window to watch where there had previously been no one. The crowd grew to a very large one and it made me feel strangely proud. I suppose it was because it was my cat, and I felt that they were all watching so attentively because it was different that Sylvia was making a silhouette of a pet instead of a person. It also seemed kind of funny to me because my cat always likes to be the center of attention, and she managed to do it at DLR while being hundreds of miles away! :rotfl2:

Here's the original picture that Sylvia had for reference (sorry it's so small):

OP, all of your questions have been answered but I just wanted to share my experience to assure you that silhouettes really are awesome souvenirs. If Sylvia isn't working at the time you go in, I highly recommend that you return when she is there. I'm sure that all of the artists are great, but Sylvia's work speaks for itself. Have a fantastic trip! :goodvibes

Ooh, I had no idea these were so affordable! AND YOU CAN GET YOUR PETS DONE TOO? Amazing, I need to get one done of my horse! Also, hello mothers/fathers day present for my stepmom/dad, I wonder if I can scrounge up profile pictures of their horses before I go tomorrow...

Noreen did our silhouettes and she did a beautiful job!
