Silestone countertop?

My husband and I are just starting to look at different counter top options, and are leaning towards silestone right now. Does anyone else have this? Do you like it? What type of maintenance does it require? Did you look at silestone, and choose something else?

We put Silestone in our kitchen about two months ago. We selected the Blue Safita color. I LOVE the look of my counter!

The cleaning instructions said to be sure not to use any cleaner with ammonia in it; they recommended Formula 409. Spills and such are very easy to just wipe up.

The installers also recommended not putting hot pans directly on the countertop because cold stone vs. hot pan could lead to cracking. It does seem like you might be more likely to break a glass should you drop it on the counter as it is so hard.

I have no regrets and am very happy with my countertop.

I love ours. We also had ours put on about two months ago. I do keep trivets around because of the heat thing, but haven't had any problems with anything else. And, I just use those bleach wipes to clean it up. A breeze! Even when my son gets tang on the counter it comes right up! We used the Kona beige on ours, btw.

My in-laws put one in about 5 years or so ago and it is really nice. I don't know the exact color but it is a light tan with a bunch of different colored specks. My SIL put one in their house that they built last year. She really likes it as well. Her's is a more bronze and black color. Her installer made/gave her a couple trivet out of the same material for when she uses a crockpot or for putting hot pans on. It is nice because it matches the countertop and you can leave it out without it looking like there is something on your counter--if you care about having stuff on your counters or not that is.

I have something similar, basically all categorized as solid surface countertop. I have the sink molded right into into the counter ... looks pretty cool. You also get a choice of different edges. It is just like Corian, without the $$ attached to the name.

Actually, Corian is a totally different thing. Silestone is similar to granite and they are nothing like Corian. Silestone is a quartz countertop.

Call the supply house up here, because they have it all under the same "plastic" type Corian counter. I don't have Silestone, I just assumed it was same thing based on how it was being displayed. Granite was completely being advertised as a separate product. Sorry for the wrong post.
