with Lawton? He graduates from AIT at Ft Sill on Wed, and Kimmi goes to pick him up on Thursday. They will look for a house or apartment to rent that weekend. He has to be back in Longmont by Sunday for Home Town Recruiter, and then they report back to Ft. Sill on July 3.

Any suggestions on a good area of town to rent a house? A good church (preferably non-Denominational/Christian). How they go about renting on such a short notice?

Kimmi is really stressed about moving somewhere she's never been to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi tc I've been wondering where your SIL would be going. I don't know much about that area but can give your dd some tips on renting and moving. Please feel free to email me or PM me. I know that several other military families on here are pros too.

I would have them check out the housing referral office on post. They can help make sure any rental contracts are on the up and up. They might want to look into some of the apartments in town. Their BAH amount won't be very much just getting out of AIT.

I wouldn't rent south of the mall, or anywhere really close to the gate. If they have a car, the east side of town (east of I-44) or the very west end of town have some nicer areas. The center of town, or close to the post gates can be iffy areas. I can't speak to the churches because we are Catholic, but there are TONS of churches in this town!

Tell your daughter it is an easy town to get around in. There isn't a whole lot to do, it gets REALLY hot in the summer, and the shopping isn't great, but there are a lot worse places she could be going to. If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me.....

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on to her. She is dreading the heat. Alot different than Colorado, that's for sure.

My nephew did his basic training at Fort Sill. DD and I went out there in July to watch him graduate. I found the heat much easier to handle then the heat and humidity here in Florida. Lawton is a nice little town.
