I cannot find the link to look this question up on previous threads, so I'm sorry about repeating a question.
But, how do you go about having characters sign t-shirts or sweatshirts? I believe, if I remember correctly, that the kids cannot be wearing the shirts at time of signing? Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks,
Kim :earboy2:

You are right about kids not being allowed to wear the shirt while they sign it. Some characters can't sign with their hands and thus have stamps for signatures. They might not work on a shirt.

It might work well if you somwhow clip the shirt onto a clipboard for a solid signing surface for the characters. Just a thought. Have fun!

I read where someone took an embroidery/cross stitch hoop. They would put the shirt on it, get a signature, then move the hoop to a new spot. This gave them a sturdy surface to sign and yet was easy to carry around.

When we were on the "Wonder" last year we took a shirt to Guest Services and requested the signatures, and 24 hrs later picked it up- signed by about 15 characters all with their unique handwriting or special flair- in different colored permanant marker. It is so cool! Anyone hear of doing that at the resorts?? Thanks.

I have heard about that on the cruise ships, except with pillowcases. That is very cool. But since we will want to have the kids get their pictures made with the characters, especially in their Christmas outfits, we might feel kind of guilty if we don't ask for their autograph on something.

My kids almost always have shirts signed instead of autograph books. We cut out a round piece of foam board for each of our kids. While we are standing in line, the kids get their shirt ready. They find an empty space and put the foam board underneath that spot. They grip the material around it and hand it to the characters that way. Hope that makes sense. We take a bunch of the fat fabric markers with us in different colors. We have never had a problem doing this. The CM's always say it is a perfect system we have worked out. Other people are always coming up to us asking what markers we are using or what we are using under the shirts. It has worked for us for awhile now.

all my 3 DS's got a hat they bought in WDW signed by all the characters they met last week. They had LOTS of fun doing this! We just brought some different colored sharpies with us. The kids would put their hands under the hat if the character was having problems signing & needed some extra support. They LOVE them now...my 3rd grader brought his in to share with his classs today!
