Signed up for DME but wont use?

I signed up to use DME for our trip. I than read horrible things about being stuck on a bus for 3 hours and found the FLtours link on this page. I signed up and set up a round trip but now I have my DME sitting here. Now I have abit of trust issues and wanna make sure we get to our resort some way or another would it be possible to just keep my DME while 99%chance I will be taking the town car I set up.

I understand they want you to cancel DME 24 hours in advance of the pickup, but will we get any backlash from just not showing up? I would love for it to be a backup just incase the town car falls through.

We will only be traveling with carryon baggage so either way we would not use the yellow tags

We have used ME probably more than 20 times without issue. I bring our bags though because I don't like to wait for them. But that's the only issue. I am not much of a budgeter but I would never spend money on a limo when I can get a free ride. Good luck.

I have seriously never had a horror story of DME. You're going to have stories for any experience you use. I'd save the money and take the magical express!

Thank you for the replys but even having to wait a possible hour and a half on a bus just seems horrible to me :/ so a nice 30min drive to the resort is perfect. But like my question asked. Can i keep the DME open incase it falls through?

Yes. And I have had more than one bad trip on DME. I too have FL Tours booked for my next trip.

ok....I have never checked in down there and waited more than 20 minutes for us to pull out. Maybe we just get lucky but, that is what we have experienced.

Regardless of the transportation method the airport is a long distance from WDW and to the Contemporary the drive is about 40 minutes. That is what makes up most of the time people talk about. Presuming travel us directly to the Contemporary it's 40 minutes in a bus or in a town car. And, DME uses very nice and comfortable air conditioned motor coaches not transit buses. I agree with others, save the money and take DME, it will be fine.

No backlash from Disney. Your hotel reservation/park tickets/FP+s, etc. won't be cancelled if you decide to blow off DME.

The only issue with keeping your DME reservation is on the return trip. Many times, we've been sitting on the bus at the resort waiting to go to the airport while the bus driver waits and waits for some passengers assigned to that bus who never do show up. Eventually the driver gives up and we head out. As a courtesy to other guests, if you won't be using DME for the trip back to the airport, please cancel your return reservation.

I have never had a problem or long waits using DME, but for my upcoming trip, I need to be at the resort as soon as possible after landing, so I am using carryon bags only, and booked a limo service so I should be at OKW one hour after touch down. I am using DME back to the airport though!

Let me give you some if my transportation times...with carry on baggage only.
DME...between 60 and 85 mins. Usually around 75 mins.

Car service...usually around 45-50 mins.

Either one is dependable. I, personally, have never spent more than 20 on the bus, just sitting and waiting to leave. And that one 20 min time came when I just walked through the line and right onto the bus! Other times, I've waited in the bus line for 25 mins, but only waited, on the bus, for 5 mins.
I have used FLTours many times, and have had only good experiences.
You will be fine whichever way you go.
And no, there will be no repercussions if you choose to use FLTours vs DME.

You don't need to cancel that portion of DME.

You might very well end up having a bad time with the company you've booked; as you know, since you're asking if you can keep DME just in case. The few times we've used DME we haven't had a bad time. I don't keep track of that timing, but I would remember if we were sitting on a bus for 1.5 hours before we left. I'd remember if I was sitting on a bus 50 minutes before it left. Those things haven't happened to us, not even arriving after midnight.

We rent a car almost all the time.
