I have finally finished the design for DD’s pillowcase. Now I need to purchase the pillowcases. Has anyone used the standard transfers on a pastel colored pillowcase? I was unsure if the transfer would look ok on something other then a white pillowcase.

I have done both white and pastel color pillowcases, I prefer the white pillowcase myself. The colors look more crisp on the white background.

I just made mine last month, I used a light pastel purple color to match my daughters room. It came out great. I just made the transfer a little lighter and it worked fine. I also bought a dark purple sharpee for the characters to sign with and it looks great! Good Luck!

What are the transfers that you are talking about? Some type of iron on decal? Where did you get them?

I use the Avery iron-on transfers. I buy mine at BJ's (20 transfers for 14.99), but you can get iron-on transfers at most department stores or office supply stores.

Sharpies are permanent markers, we call them magic markers. Anyhow, these are used to have the characters sign items on the ship. The transfers are iron-on tranfers, that can be found in most department stores and office supply stores here in the states. They are really quite easy to use, and can be quite fun making designs onto. Just make sure that when you print them off, you have your printer set for reverse printing.

Hope this helps!!!

When you give the pillowcase to them to sign do you include some kind of gift with it? Like a phone card or candy or something? It seems like a lot to aks of the cast members with out anything in return. Thanks:teeth:

Thanks Verandah Man, I knew you would be able to help me out.
Have you thought about setting up a business.?
If so I will place my pillowcase order with you now !!

Once again thanks for the info am sure I will be asking for your advice again soon.

Happy Days,
Chucklechops

I brought 2 pillowcases to the help desk with sharpies, but they did not want them. I came by the next day and they had all the characters signatures on them.

What was cute, was that the characters signed by their pictures! Too cute!

Anyone have a picture they can post of their pillowcases?? I'm pretty craft-challenged but I'd like to give it a try. And silly question...do your kids sleep on these pillowcases or are they just for decoration in their rooms at home?

I think it would be a cool surprise to have the kids come back to their room one evening and find the pillows on their beds with the autographed pillowcases!!:cloud9: :cloud9:

Here is the front of the pillowcase that I made for Nate that has some of the characters signatures.

My kids use their pillowcases still! They were very surprised!

I don't know how to put a picture in my post, but if you email me, I will try to email you a picture.

My pillow cases were Disney Cases, and I did not have to do anything to them

My son's case had Mickey and friends, and my daughters had princesses.

I finally purchased the pillowcases today. plain white- 220count. I have washed them already. Any suggestions on a things I should do to the case/transfer before heading off on the cruise, in the way of special washings etc.? I have yet to place the transfer onto the pillowcases.

If the pillowcases are 100% cotton, make sure they are washed and run through the dryer before putting the iron-on transfer on to allow for shrinkage. If the pillowcases are 50/50 poly and cotton there is no need for washing and drying before putting the transfer on. I do however iron all the creases out before applying the transfer.

Thanks for all the help! In regards to future care, I thought I had read something on a post about treating the pillowcase with something like vinegar (or something) after the signatures are applied. Did I dream this??

Thanks for the pic, Andy!!! I'm gonna do this!! I think even *I* can do it!!! LOL!!! I just have to print a pic out (reversed) onto the transfer paper and iron on, right??

That is correct. What I would suggest before you print your design on to a transfer, first print it on to a plain sheet of white paper, just to see how it will look and to make sure it will be printing in reverse.

I downloaded Disney characters (clipart.disneysites.com)and then copied them onto t-shirt transfer paper (Walmart) then ironed them on. I did a t-shirt and pillowcase and they are so cute!

Should I line the case with something before you turn it in or do the "characters" put something in it before they sign it to prevent leaking onto the other side of the case? Thanks!:cat:
