After reading some of the posts about guests experiences over the past couple of weeks, it prompted me to type this letter up to Disney. At the end of this week, I'm going to send it to Disney Executives. If you agree, please sign your name (username will do just fine.)

To whom it may concern:

I just wanted to ask a question in regards to Disney policy. I am an avid fan of Walt Disney World. I, as well as many others on this list, think it's the greatest place on earth.

However, one thing I have noticed, and by reading Disney message boards, others have issues with as well, is Disney's disregard when it comes to behavior of certain tour groups. The cheerleading groups that are allowed to practice their cheers on the buses, throughout the parks, and at the resorts. The Brazilian tour groups who are allowed to cut in line, and sing and chant throughout the parks and resorts. And the Pop Warner teams who bully their way through crowds of people and disrupt guests at all hours of the night at resorts.

Why does Disney tolerate this? Why can't simple rules be set in place when these groups make arrangements? People are spending alot of money for their Disney vacation experience, and it's very disheartening to see that Disney turns a deaf ear to these disruptive groups. Sadly, their so called "chaperones" often do nothing to set these groups in line.

Please, look closely into the matter and show some more respect for your guests.

Thank you.

of an educational group (middle school) that has made nine annual trips to Disneyworld, I must say that any tour group that does not adequately chaperone their group (and I've seen plenty of 'em too) should not be in Disneyworld. I'm all for tightening the guidelines a bit. And I hope that those unruly groups do not give the rest of us a bad name . . . When I'm taking someone else's child over a thousand miles from home, the last thing I want is to have something happen because that child is not supervised, whether it be illness, accident, or any other problem. So, we have a 1-to-5 chaperone to student ratio and we're with those kids 24/7. And to us, a huge part of the learning experience involves things like our middle school students having respect for the hotel's quiet hours, having the courtesy to offer their seat to another guest on a late-night bus ride, or thanking the cast members who help give them a wonderful experience. It's very different and more tiring than my own Disney trips, but it's a different kind of satisfaction that's very rewarding.
Personally, I'd love to see Disney offer a pre-trip chaperone seminar - - a 2 or 3 day on-site informational workshop - - for group leaders to attend several months before their own Disney experience!

I agree completely that Disney needs to tighten control of these groups, I see NO reason why when people save for years or whatever to come to Disney and are paying good money for the experience why they should be subjected to such behavior as some of the groups or people in them get away with.

they certainly get some revenue from these groups to be sure, but if they alienate all their regular return customers in the process they turn themselves into a cheap amusement park, exactly the kind Walt built Disneyland to get away from.

If you or I acted like some of them they would throw us out of the park in a minute. but since these are groups, they don't want to make a scene or have a riot. So they ignore 90% of the outrageous behavior.

please add me to your list of protestors.

I agree completely! We've learned to "avoid" certain times of the year, which is a shame.

We look so forward to our Disney vacations and the last thing I want to do is to stop folks from having fun. But, that is exactly what these types of groups are doing. You can't have a true Disney experience with people chanting, yelling, clapping, pushing and the like.

I agree wholeheartedly!! I would be interested to know what Disney's official policy is for dealing with tour groups. I would guess that officially they have to abide by the same rules as eveyone else. I think the problem is that there is no support for cast members to actually enforce this unless it is extreme.

I totally agree ... we pay too much at Disney parks and resorts to have to deal with unruly groups. Hopefully some guidelines will be put into place (and enforced).

Adding my signature. My DD is able to go with her band in Feb. 2007 and I feel like sending a copy of some of these threads to the leader so that he can instruct the children of expected behavior beforehand. I think all parents of the children and the chaperones should know what is proper and respectful and act accordingly. If Disney could type guidelines to send to groups ahead of time, that would be wonderful, especially if there are consequences that can be enforced.

I agree completely. Disney needs to set some rules and enforce them. That's the important part - enforcing the rules!

Sign me up! - Hate to be negative. Some groups are not bad, but some are just as inconsiderate as they can be. Give and take I suppose. This is not only the Cheerleaders and BTG, this is people in General.

Although I know nothing about the Brazilian Tour Groups.

Disney needs to make some rules and enforce them. These tour groups are paying good money also. They probably pay more.

Add my name to the list!!! It is not fair that these groups get away with their rude, disrespectful behavior when all of us save our money to take the trips to Disney just to have them ruined by these loud, obnoxius kids. Any efforts on Disney's part to do something, anything about these groups of kids and their bad behavior would be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely. Rules do need to be made clear in english, spanish, portuguese, and any other language necessarry. Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the rules or bullying others. Language barrier or not, no one deserves special treatment :sad2:

Add me to the list too! There have been several times when we have been driven from a park because of the boisterous groups. It's hard enough for us adults to handle, but think of all the families with young children. :sad2:

Add me too-you can't tell me there's not something they can do to rein these groups in.

I agree - These tour groups get way out of control and do force people to leave the park or check out of the resorts!!

Thank you for sending this to Disney - they need to know how guests feel.

Add me over 10 visits in the past 5 years some for 30 days

No more when Pop Warner and Cheerleaders are there until

Disney dies sinething about their behavior

I'm a frequent visitor and always end up with time off at the same time that the BTG, Cheerleaders , Little league Baseball, etc are there. I don't mind kids, I have a few of my own and I am a teacher. The problem is unsupervised kids in large groups feed off of one another--heck if I left my own two kids to wander unsupervised in a group they may be inclined to act out as well. When I am on vacation I do not want to deal with the behavior issues I have to deal with at work. THis is my hard earned vacation and if it is going to take on a six flags quality I will find someplace else to vacation. On a lighter note this past summer at the Lion King show at AK a BTG started to cheer and chant and all of the CM's immediately put a stop to it--a stern NO!, with hand gestures to stop and head shaking stopped it right away. I would think that all CMs should be able to control obnoxious behavior. I know the cering, sports thing came out to market when there were slow times, but now that there dont seem to be any slow times I wonder if there is a need to market to these groups?
