I am glad Disney and Universal are cracking down on using these things while on a ride! How dangerous!

Glad they are cracking down. I don't want to be behind someone that has it sticking out so
far it its something and breaks and ends up hurting someone behind them.

Pity that people don't use common sense but at least now there is a sign saying NO.

Will people actually listen though? How many rides post no flash photography and everyone just ignores it?

That's good although I think there will still be people who don't listen unfortunately

I like that Universal has a metal detector on some of the high intensity rides.
I don't get why people can be so reckless. Not only are they putting themselves at risk but others as well. Not to mention damaging the ride itself.
I don't have an issue with using them for a few family pictures here and there but some people have to go and abuse it!

They might not listen but, unlike with flash photography, there will be proof at the end of the attraction if the person has a selfie stick with them and there is proof on the attraction cameras that the person used the stick while on the attraction. Disney has used the word "No" and now it's up to Disney to enforce it. However, Disney really uses the word "No" and tries to let their guests do the right thing.

True at least with the sign if a person says they didn't know Disney had a ban on the sticks, they have a way to show that they said no plenty of times.

People using selfie sticks on rides reminds me of the classic quote from Jurassic Park:

"Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."
