At Caribbean Beach this morning & there are are multiple sight baloons that appear to be over Epcot. Not familiar enough with the layout of the place to tell for sure, but it looks like they're in the future world area. Guardians of the Galaxy, maybe? Just found it interesting.

Interesting. Are you sure it was Epcot and not on Caribbean beach property. CBR is rumored to get DVC. There were also balloons spotted recently in the DHS direction near the fireworks launch site.

That's certainly possible - forgot about the dvc thing. Kind of hard to tell their exact location from my vantage point.

Take a picture and upload it.

Let's triangulate it's location!

Can verify that they're at Caribbean Beach - just drove past on our way to Universal. False alarm for Epcot. Already on the road so no pics, sorry.

Why of all places Caribbean beach for the DVC? Is it because they have that empty plot of land directly across from Trinidad South? I always thought DVC was for the deluxe properties and not for the moderates but whatever

Both Coronado and Caribbean beach were or are being looked at. My guess is Caribbean beach has room for it. Moderate DVC has been rumored for years now.

If I recall correctly, epcot had sight balloons over universe of energy about 2-3 weeks ago so this is probably CBR. Interesting that they are using sight balloons, how high up were they planning to build for dvc?

From what I understand if moderate DVC happens it would be a tower. I'm guessing not as high as bay lake tower but still a tower.

I always have to question this moderate DVC concept being kicked around--- just because they are/ may build a stand alone DVC in a reasonable proximity to a moderate resort doesn't necessarily make it a moderate DVC.... however, I could categorize SSR and OKW as moderates... but really, If it is considered moderate, the point purchase price would have to be less, the room point cost would have to be less, and then the profit margins on the sale of the building would be less-- And the stock holders wouldn't like that...

Actually the way the prices have went up if the price point was a lot lower it might make it more reachable for a whole generation of people who do not have quite as much excess cash as previous generations. So just because of a lower price it could make it reachable for a lot of people and stock holders would like that. And again at there 7 month window they could also book at the more upscale resorts should they want.

We purchased originally at SSR about 8 years ago but think have stayed there only 2 times in about 10 or 12 trips. Has never been a issue booking other resorts.

Exactly...which was caused by reckless greed...but now history can be rewritten as "the plan all along"

I may be in the minority here so forgive me if I sound harsh, but if they decide to do a "moderate DVC" at a lower price point those owners shouldn't get the same 7 month access to the other resorts as everyone else (maybe 4 or 5 months). It doesn't seem fair to those of us who paid the higher price to have 7 months even more crowded with those who got in at the moderate level.

No, no...you're right...

Many of us have paid years or decades of fees, expenses, discretionary purchases on DVC...

It's wrong to "cancel our credit" with this recent "moving the bar" on everything policy...

See I do not have a real problem with that. Everyone bought at different times and price points on everything. Sure in hindsight I would have bought 25 years ago not, I think 8 years so everyone gets different prices. Also buying a resale at VB or HH gets the points much lower around 65-70 I think I saw and again they can still use those points to rent at GF or Poly. Of course I could see DVC making different rules if buying at a moderate resort. That would not surprise me.

The issue I see is that we have all bought into a deluxe resort timeshare. It is not right to me to put someone on the same playing field who bought into a moderate resort timeshare just because DVC wants to lower the standards to sell more points. A good idea if they want to go that route would be to have a moderate tier DVC and build properties at desirable moderates (coronado springs, port orleans). Now that would sell.
