Can I vent? Thanks.

So today was my first day of my first day ever, I was excited of course. It was just ol' Burger King but yeah. Anyways...

I went in and I told a person that today was actually my first day and I wasn't sure how to proceed. So she said she'd go get me the shirt and hat. I sat waiting. Waiting. Waiting. 15 minutes later she comes in with this XXL polo, hat and name tag. Now I am by NO means an XXL but she said it was the only one they had.

I went into the bathroom to change. Ohmygod, the shirt literally SWAMPED me. And we had to tuck it in, which I wasn't aware of. See, the only semi-okay looking black pants I could find were those high waisted type ones, so it looked absolutely ridiculous tucked in. I looked like an old gramma with the high pants and huge shirt. Everything looked horribly droopy, girls you know what I mean. :sad1:

So I stand there, waiting waiting waiting for someone to take me under their wing and actually train me! They finally told me to stand and watch this other woman run the cash register. The register is a touch screen so I couldn't see anything at an angle. For about an hour I stood there. Incredibly frusterated, confused, dazed, etc. The woman just griped about how it was almost her time off. I didn't think she wanted to train me at all. Honestly I was fighting back the urge to cry and scream and cry some more. I was telling myself then that it just wasn't worth it. I couldn't handle it all. I'd quit.

Oh btw, about 5 minutes in the power went off for a minute and FROZE EVERYTHING. They had to physically write down everything. I stood there like a lump.

So finally I intervened and was like 'Uhm, can I ring up the next person?' I mean it was MY register. They gave ME the key. I was signed in on it. Ugh. She said fine and then basically sauntered off to gripe to someone else.

There was another young-ish chick on the other register so I basically just asked her all my questions. She wsa VERY friendly and taught be where the cups were, forks, etc.

So for about another hour and a half I happily kept to myself ringing people up and would occaisonally ask a question. Everything was fine.

Then. Then they had me clean the bathrooms. Ohmygod. I'm telling ya. Whoever said guys bathrooms are cleaner then girls are surely kidding themselves. The girls bathroom barely needed any cleaning, but the guys...well let's just say that was different.

So obviously I was still very confused. At this point I was half registering and half drying off platter things.

So the A. Manager comes up to me and says 'I think I'll let you go home early.' She showed me where my schedule is and the paper that tells everyone what they'll be doing on that particular day. Then she sent me on my merry way.

I ran to the bathroom to get out of that hideous shirt and put my regular one back on. Then I bought a soda (the discount is only 10% :sad2: ) and left.

Now if you're counting, I got there at 11. Left at about 2:30. That's 3 and half hours. At $6.50 and hour. Wow I'm rich. And because I only worked 3 hours I got no break.

It's definitely not worth it. Honestly, if they're going to let me go home early everyday what they're paying me will NEVER add up.

Seriously, I wish they would've just let me stand at the register and not bothered me. I would have been very happy.

This is...I don't know. Crap. It was a lot more hectic than I thought it would be. I was also a lot more confused because they did basically NO training. It was awful, but I'll do it. Well, only if they guarentee me they won't try and send me home early.

So I had to vent. I had my first day of work ever ever ever and it went awfully. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Yeah right. I'm gonna hate this job.

Don't worry about the first few days.
Honestly, they haven't warmed up to you (and how could they not?).
My friend spent the first few days at Timmies washing dishes and being ignored (well one guy paid attention to her, but he turned out to be a scary, perverted man slut). They ignored her, were rude to her and just plain didn't want to help her.
After a while she got the hang of things.

Give it a week or two before you decide whether it's really worth it or not.
The shirt thing.. go get measured and tell the manager that you need a shirt that fits you and it would be nice to have one ordered.

Yeah, thanks. I need someone to tell me that. Because now it's just me telling myself all the negatives.

Hang in there. I don't have much advice since I've never had a job.
I'm sure it'll just take awhile to get into the swing and things and maybe you'll get to work more hours.
Hope everything gets better!

Dont worry, youll get the hang of it! I remember my first day at my first job I could have cried I was so nervous. I didnt even punch in! hah Anyways, after the first few weeks I was like a pro.

Hang in there!!

Just wondering if you could find this out for me tomorrow xD
My friend who works at BK says that the Whopper sauce is the same as mayo.
Is that really true?

Anyways.
Were the people working today, more or less all a lot older than you?

I'm sorry that your first day didn't go so great.
Hopefully things will get better from here on in.

Good Luck.
:) :) :)

I am sorry.
Maybe tomorrow will be better since now you know how to do things and how things run a little bit better. After all, today was your first day.

Good luck!

: )

... Wait, I think I must have missed something-- weren't you going to to be working at Wal-Mart?

Huh. Well, wherever you're working, that just sucks. I'm sorry you had such a rotten day, and I'd really like to know what the heck was up with your co-workers to make them act so horribly. That's no way to treat a newcomer, no matter where you're working. :confused3

But I wouldn't worry too much, it'll probably get better. Just hang in there and you'll get into the swing of things after a little while. Good luck.

Awww.
I'm sorry you had a bad day.
Try giving it another chance.
Maybe, hopefully, it will get better.
Good luck!

On a whopper I think they put keptchup and mayo both on it. That's at my BK at least.

you dont know that youre going to hate it later, when you get to know what youre doing a little better. im sure everything will be a lot easier then

Hugs Jenny.
I have no advice,just hugs.
Hang in there!

I'm really sorry, I haven't ever had a job, but I could imagine being very frustrated. But you should at least try a few more times, and then decide of it's worth it or not. :)

Im sorry Jenny, people are annoying. :sad2:

I think you should act super confident tomorrow and if your asked to leave early just say no im sure I can handle it, or something of that nature.

Jenny I've always heard that the first day is not easy so it will probally get easier once you get use to it dont give up and just try to enjoy yourself ask if they can give you a smaller T-shirt or something just dont give up and try to have a good time

Jenny I can already tell that you are so above and beyond these people and that this job will only be temporary and so hopefully for now you can stick it out, make some dough, and once you have an opportunity to boot you should!

GL girl and KUP on how your days in the future go.

Oh I hope you guys didn't misunderstand me. I'm not actually gonna quit. Don't worry. :)
