I was hoping that someone could tell me where in IOA/Universal and Citywalk that someone could smoke? Do any of the restaurants have outdoor patios that allow for smoking?
Also we will be at the HRH for 12 nights-do they allow smoking by the pool?
When we were there last year and three years ago there were no restrictions-but that was then.
Please help with the smoking rules-I know it is a pathetic habit and my DH does not want to offend anyone and just smoke where it is allowed. Thanks, Lori

Well, my darling BF is as well. He "quit" the evening of March 1, but I don't have high hopes (have a feeling we wasted almost $200 for Smoke Away). I should be able to help you out when we come back at the end of March, unless, by an act of God and Grace, he has actually quit this time.

Good Luck with that Jodie. It is so hard to quit, but tell him, if he can just make it through the first two weeks, he can do it. Quitting was one of the hardest things I did, but finding out I was pregnant made it easier. I really didn't have a choice. Good Luck!!!

It is a pathetic habit but most of us to try to be considerate and keep out patheticness (is that a word? It is now!) to ourselves! There are plenty of designated smoking areas throughout IOA/USO and are clearly marked on the guide maps. Having just got back a month ago, here are the ones I remember

IOA (going clockwise!)

Marvel Super Hero Island - seating area opposite the Comic Book Store

Toon Lagoon - to the right of the bridge at Dudley Do Right

Jurassic Park - just in front of the drop zone for Jurassic Falls

Walkway between Jurassic Park and Lost Continent

Lost Continent - Can't remember but I know I needed a puff after Duelling Dragons so there must be one there somewhere!

Seuss Landing - Again can't remember but then DD (12) considers herself too old for Cat in the Hat now - darn! So we rushed thru.

Port of Entry - seating area by the lagoon.

USO (clockwise again - is there a pattern here?!)
Near Nickelodeon Studios at the side of the shop
The "garden" area outside Twister
The bar area opposite Earthquake
To the right of the MIB shop
The seating area by the Lake near Animal Live
Gazebo area near Barney Live

There are probably a couple more which I didn't stop at due to family pressure!

At CityWalk, you can smoke on the verandah of Margueritaville and Pat O'Briens has an outdoor patio where us "lepers" can hang out (except when it's pouring down - I speak from experience!). Those are the only 2 places we've eaten.

It's been 2 years since I stayed at HRH and smoking was allowed by the pool then. Don't know what the rules are now, sorry.

Hope this helps some. Maybe by the time we go back in August, I'll have kicked the pathetic habit and won't need to remember all this (yeah - right!)

Have a great trip!

C'mon IOArocks. There is such an easy solution for your problem. I have a sister in Flin Flon who will take your husband's place. She doesn't smoke and would be happy to jump on the Gray Goose and meet you in Winnipeg.:p
