We are cruising in January and have rooms 5010 & 5009. One of these is a cat. 11 and one a cat. 8. My question is, how do I find out if it is a sideways facing cat. 11 and what exactly does that mean? It sounds like that is bad but I am not really clear why, is it because you feel the motion of the ship differently?? If anyone knows any info re our cat. 11, I would appreciate it. Thanks!!!

LisaF had one of those on her last cruise. You may want to PM her or do a search on her. She also posted pictures of this type of room. From what I remember, she liked it very much.

I have friends staying in one of these sideways Cat. 11s in September. I am curious what they look like too. If anyone has pictures posted online of them, I would love to see them!

Wow, you remembered that CRSNDSNY! We had room 6003, a side facing cat 11, and loved it! Okay, so I found the pictures and threw together a quick web page. Here they are, hope they help!

Does this cabin sleep 4, or only 3? It didn't look like there was a drop down bunk, but maybe I just didn't see it. Thanks for posting the pics!!!

Lisa F.,
Thank you so much for the pictures. I wasn't quite sure what it meant. How do I find out if my room is sideways facing? Is there a way to find out on the stateroom layout in PassPorter? Also, how did you find the sideways cabin? Did it make you motion sick?
Thanks everyone for your responses...

Our room only slept 3, I'm not sure about the rest of them (it's not something I pay attention to since we don't have kids yet, sorry!)

As far as motion sickness, I don't get motion sick so I can't really comment on that either. I think if you are going to get motion sick, you had better take something for it and then it won't be a problem no matter where you are on the ship.

If you look on a deck plan, the "sideways" staterooms are the ones that look like they are running from forward to aft on the ship rather than from starboard to port as MOST of the rooms run. They are located forward on decks 5 and 6, perpendicular to the rooms around them.

I do too but I thought that was the reason I can't even remember my own name anymore!

Lisa, can you tell me what you liked about it? I know the square footage is identical in all cat 11 rooms, but what is the benefit of sideways vs. the standard way? thanks. Thanks for the pics. We'll be getting 2 cat 11's.

Thanks for posting these. I just booked 6521 and found it isw a sideways cabin, also. How neat that I can see the layout!
