We are booked in a sideways cabin in March on the Magic. I have been able to find only a couple of pics online of the sideways cabins. On the DCL website the description of the standard inside cabins say there is a porthole mirror and we have stayed inside before and do remember the mirror. The pics I am finding of the sideways cabins do not show a mirror and the cabins look so bland without anything on the wall by the bed. Have any of you guys stayed in a sideways cabin on the Magic recently and can tell me if there is a mirror? I would love pics also if you have them

Thanks!

IMG_0557.JPG IMG_0555.JPG IMG_0556.JPG IMG_0557.JPG We stayed in a sideways on the Wonder a few years ago. Really liked it for its refreshing change from the usual layout. Seems bigger, even though it's really not. Excuse the pics of my family and me, but here are some shots of the cabin. We were in 6511.

Thanks for the pics! I was hoping for the porthole mirror but it sure looks like the sideways cabin will seem more spacious.

Why don't the sideways rooms have the mirror? Are they bigger sq feet or just laid out differently?

deleted as thought a poster referred to the virtual portholes

We have had the mirror before in the regular inside cabins on the Magic. It also states such on the DCL website.

I am talking about the Mirror not the virtual porthole that are just on the Dream and Fantasy. I just realized my question may have been confusing.

Deleted as thought someone was asking about virtual portholes by mistake

Someone else mentioned the "porthole mirrors" which was why I thought it was worth mentioning they aren't on the older ships. Just in case someone read this and thought they were.

I've always had a normal mirror in the inside rooms but this is the first sideways room I've had so wont know for 2 weeks :D

Magic Portholes are not on the Classics, but this is a non-promotional picture of an inside stateroom on the Wonder (not sideways) and there is clearly a round mirror which could be called a "porthole mirror" I guess...

Porthole mirror is the description DCL uses on their website. I guess they are trying to make it seem special, lol.

I think you're confusing a porthole mirror with a virtual porthole. The porthole shaped mirrors are on the Classic ships in the inside rooms. The virtual portholes are HD screens shaped like a porthole and show a live feed from the fore or aft camera of the ship (and a Disney surprise goes by every half hour or so) and are only on the inside rooms of the Dream class ships.

Looks more like a compass mirror :smooth:

Not sure I was confusing them per say had never considered the round one as a porthole. As someone else said I thought it was a compass. Learn something new every day.

The only thing I have heard referred to as a porthole is the virtual porthole which my comment was clearly about in case others thought the same as me in that the virtual ones were being discussed half way through post. Was just trying to be helpful that's all in case others read it that way.

Disney calls them a porthole mirror (on the wall in place of an actual porthole), and you had said they weren't on the Classics twice above, so my post was just for clarification as well.

My sideways cabins on both the Magic and Wonder only had the mirror above the desk (as shown in the pics jlynch924 posted) and a long mirror on the wall by the bathroom. No round mirror of any kind.

I guess I was just so happy to be on the ship that I didn't think the room was bland with nothing on the wall by the bed.

Thanks for the reply; good to know not to expect the mirror. When we have had the mirror it seemed to make the cabin look larger but totally agree just so happy to be on the ship I would sleep on a deck chair, lol.

I've deleted my two comments about the virtual portholes. I was trying to be helpful but apologies that I didn't know the correct name for the mirror
