Bex has just gone to withdraw some cash from three autobanks and her card has been declined. We rang the HSBC to ask what was going on as she only got paid friday and not even DD could spend it that quickly lol, so we knew there was plenty of money in her account. They asked her if she was in Malaysia yesterday as someone had tried to withdraw money!!!!! aparently her card has been cloned but luckily they put a block on it before they were able to withdraw anything. She now has to wait for a new card to come but at least she can't keep spending :lmao: These "people" really make me sick they deserve all the bad luck in the world.

Unbelievable-but so glad the bank stopped it+no money was taken. There is so much of this going on lately.x.

dont use your card at non supermarket garages, always sheild when entering pin,and have a good look at card reader before entering pin, never withdrw cash from a street atm always use inside bank ones or use cashback from supermarket

We do try to be careful as DH has had his credit card and debit card cloned in the past. It makes you wonder how they do it

Oh that's horrible! Glad the bank were quick and cancelled it before anything happened. HSBC are really goofor security. Shame you have wait for a new card though. Bet that shook you up. x

Glad the bank put a stop to it Denise! Had my paypal account hacked into which resulted in £400 being taken off my debit card, didn't realise until my card was refused in Wilkinsons...boy was I embarssed!!! Sometimes I think you can do everything with best intentions, security etc but still happends.

Thank goodness the bank were quick to notice it. I hope her new card comes soon :)

Shocking, at least the bank reacted quickly.

This is terrible, I hope DD gets her new card soon so that she can go out and spend her OWN MONEY.

thats awful, glad the bank acted quickly

That's awful, glad no money was taken though.

I'm glad the bank caught it quickly. Hopefully your DD will get her new card quickly:thumbsup2

I'm so glad her bank was so quick off the mark. It happened to an eldery aunt of mine a couple of years ago and they cleared her bank account when she doesn't get much money anyway. Banks weren't so aware (or interested then) and she lost all her money for good that time.
Glad your daughter has got it sorted.

This seems to be on the increase since the "secure" introcution of chip and pin - I can't believe these people who do it. But at least the bank caught it quickly - hope the new card comes through soon.

I know what you mean chip and pin has made it easier some how. My mom and dad have the right idea they have never had a card or a cheque book and get money from the bank and pay cash for every thing.

for internet DS has a calculater thing from nationwide, evertime he uses it, it give a new number, much safer than just chip n pin.so if someone uses the same number its declined

Several people we know have been subject to this at non supermarket garages. One works at a garage themselves and says it is really easy to obtain all the information from a card when it is handed over, especially if they make a mental note of the 3 digit security number on the back of the card.

DD had her new card today which took just 2 days. I am so impressed with HSBC and their efficient work
