Sick of Stitch at WDW

My boys love Stitch. My DH loves Stitch. My 17 year-old brother loves Stitch. They had to take turns answering the wake up calls. My DH talks about how great it is that there is so much Stitch in the parks.
This last trip I took my step-mom for her first time. After every ride, show, ect..., she would tell me how great it was. After Stich she said " that was so stupid ". I think Stitch must be a boy thing. :earboy2:
Hey....who you calling: "boy"? ;) All chicks aren't girly-girls.:goodvibes

I love Stitch - didn't think he was overdone (except for the ride) - The wake up calls were both Mickey and Stitch - I wish there were more, but that's okay. And I personally don't think his merch was out of control at all.

However, the tackiness of the monorails because of him is pretty apparant. I love Stitch regardless, b/c he (and Tigger too) are just like me!! :)

Yes, he really is EVERYWHERE, isn't he? I loved the movie, HATE the tv show (cannot emphasize hate enough) and think that Stitch is way overdone at WDW. I'm just tired of seeing (and hearing!) him. LOL! Enough is enough already!

It's not that I dislike Stitch because I really don't! And I LOVE his character in the movie. It's just that you can't get away from him at WDW, and it's a little overbearing. Like someone else said, it's a little hard to ignore when he is everywhere!

Maybe it IS a boy thing....I have 3 girls. But they love Stitch, so I don't know....

Did I hear the same wake up call as the rest of you...cause we like it.
It was stich saying something and then Mickey says sorry folks ever since stich took over the castle.....
We had it every morning! I even woke up early one morning to tape the kids waking up to it!

The movie is cute, but enough of Stitch all ready. We were there in July and got that terrible wake up call. I had to hang up, Stitch was yelling in my ear. I always look forward to hearing Mickey wake me up and that is what I got. Hopefully they'll change it back soon.

No Stitch fans in our house but all characters should be allowed to have their own space. It shouldn't be an obvious 'push' to any character. Of course, personally, more eeyore would be great.. ;)

We were so sick of stitch when there a month ago...give stitch a rest :rotfl2:

i don't mind these "young upstart" characters :) but really he isn't the classic some are so must be a money thing to be promoting it so heavily which is kind of annoying. not saying disney should never change but i do think they need to get back to their "roots" a little. like how about a "classic" character brkfst. is there any place with just m and m, goofy an pluto?

Lord, I hope and pray that Stitch is not the wakeup in August!!! Cannot stand the little blue goober!! :rotfl2:

Stitch pins are currently the most popular (my daughter collects them) and he has a new movie-so naturally, the Disney marketers are pushing him right now. You'll see more of whomever is the next movie soon-so don't worry, Stitch omnipresence will cease soon! But we love him a ton and only found him twice in September-I'm a single mom, so we really relate to that movie. :paw:

Huge stitch fan here! can't wait to go in 2 weeks and see him again!! AUGH!!! DH, and i are soo excited!!

I like Stitch in the movie (the first one) and I like him in the parks. But I can see where it's gone overboard. I get a chuckle out of seeing him on the monorails but I wouldn't miss it if they changed. You can probably argue that a lot of characters get overpushed: Pooh and gang, Tinker Bell, the Princesses... all depends on what you like/dislike.

Well as one poster said "too each his own" Whether the pricesses are classic or not I still prefer stitch over the princesses. If you really hate stitch and all of the "hype" then I guess you could avoid MK until it ends. As some one else said it will be replaced by something else and then people will complain about that I'm sure.

I think Stitch is the best Disney character introduced since the 80's...no namby-pamby lightweight, he's got style & 'tude.

I'll second that.

I think having Stitch around is great. He offers a great counter balance to the sickly sweet Princesses :crazy2:

Though I do have to agree that it can become a bit too much in some cases. Disney does tend to overdo various characters (Princesses, Pooh, Stitch, Buzz, Tinker-Bell). Is what would be great is to have a balanced presence of all the popular characters with none being overdone. That way then everyone is relatively happy.

Have to agree, we like (not love) the Stitch ride, but are sick of him in general. But we are also tired of the Pooh stuff. What is wrong with a world where you can't even find Daisy or Fairy Godmother (I know lobby at CRT at breakfast if the CM will let you in) or Tink to meet. And how about changing Pop into a Classic Character theme resort? Used to love the Snow White theme at Disney Inn.

I think Stitch is adorable but the whole marketing campaign in the parks is a bit much. I'd love to see more Jiminy Cricket myself. But since he doesn't have a movie out recently, I don't think I'll get my wish.

But entertain me for just a minute, can you just imagine the wonderful voice of Jiminy asking you to follow your conscience and get up so you can start your day? :teeth:

John, with all due respect, the Disney Princesses, especially Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty are nearly as high up there on the Disney pedestal as the Mouse himself. Snow White being introduced in 1937, Cinderella in 1950, and Sleeping Beauty in 1959 - they are LONGTIME ICONS of Disney. Lilo and Stitch, on the other hand, ONLY CAME OUT THREE YEARS AGO! And was not a very successful movie anyway, as Disney movies go. I don't even see how you can possibly compare the two.

I DO avoid things that I don't care for....the problem is, Stitch at WDW is impossible to avoid! :earboy2:

Actually, Sleeping Beauty was a terrible flop when it first came out too. It ended up costing more to make than it made during it's initial release, it did not draw crowds.
Alot of the movies we think of today as Disney Classics took their time becoming that way. Pinnocio, is another good example of a flop turned classic.

They did this same type of thing back then too.

Snow White's castle (although never the official name, this is what it was going to be called) had it's name changed to Sleeping Beauty Castle shortly before Disneyland opened because that is the movie that was released at the time. That's a huge publicity stunt if I ever heard of one, and for a movie that at the time was not considered good. (Thank god they didn't rename Cinderalla's castle - Stitch Castle, right?)

I think Disney overdoes the princesses, Pooh, AND Stitch. But in a few more years it will just be something else. I'm just willing to roll with it and ride it out.

I've got to tell you that the absolute WORST was .......

We went for the night in August and used the wake-up call. I was used to Mickey, I almost fell out of bed when I heard Stich screaming at me LOL :rotfl:
When we go on the 24th I will be more prepared. :earseek:

When the Stich movie came out. I loved it!! I loved Stich too. I a grown woman bought the stich that talked back to you. But now come on.... at least in MK they overdo it with Stich, I also feel they overdo it with the Princesses as well. They should have equal amount of every character.

But Stich is everywhere and he is a great character but don't overkill it. What about the Incredibles or even Nemo. Nemo was 100 times bigger than Stich and there isn't alot with Nemo. So I can't figure that one out.

Stich still is a cutie but they could tame it down just a bit.

When we went last October, we were wondering what all the hub-bub about Stitch was. I mean, there were easily more pins of Stitch than of any other character, even Mickey. I hadn't seen the movie, but my then GF (now wife) said that it was a cute move, and I should watch it when we got home.

Well, I watched it, and, well, I"m an Elvis guy, so the movie's got a place with me. But I still think that there were better movies. Then in June we went for our Honeymoon. We were at MGM, and by the Hat there were character greetings, Lilo and Stitch replaced Chip and Dale, and the line went from nothing to longer than the line we were in for Minnie. The kids absolutely adore him, I had no idea.

I've seen some episodes of the show, they're not too bad, too much Lilo, not enough 626. The sequal was like most of Disney's direct to video sequels, a huge let down.

How do you present Nemo as a "walking" character? :)
