Ok, call me paranoid, but I'm so afraid that my kids are going to get sick while we are on vacation!! My son is 9 and my daughter is 5, and it seems like everytime we travel anywhere one of them ends up with something!!!
I am hoping to get some good tips here on how to keep everyone healthy.

I'm bringing lots of hand sanitizer and baby wipes, and of course I am going to try to stay on a fairly normal schedule so that nobody is exhausted and more likely to catch something...

any ideas from you seasoned WDW travelers???

Hi there~ Welcome to the Dis!! :wave2: :grouphug:

Bring lots of hand sanatizer, wetwipes, medicine, etc. Also, My Mom and I seem to always have a sinus drip when we go. It's nothing a little Clariten D non-drowsy 12 hr. and nose spray won't cure though. We always try and not touch public things like..hand-rails, door handles, and bathroom utinsels unless nessasary.

I hope ya'll have a wonderful trip and I hope you love it here at the Dis! :teeth: :goodvibes :wizard:

I was so paranoid when we went in September that I told my dh not to take dd anywhere for the week before! A little too much, I admit, but I just couldn't handle it if she got sick! In March I was a little less stressed about it and guess what? Dh got sick! Actually, I think it was allergies. Everything was blooming while here in Ohio it was snowing. I swear as soon as we crossed the Florida border, he started getting stuffed up and congested. It didn't totally ruin our trip, but he was crabby. So when we go in December, I'll be taking every cold/sinus/allergy/flu medicine I can find with us. Dd is starting pre-school and has never been to daycare so I just know we're in for a rough time. She'll probably come home sick 10 times between now and then. Worst case scenerio, they usually only stay really sick for 2 days or so, so since we're there 10 days, we should still be able to have a good trip.

Keep your fingers crossed and give everyone extra vitamin C.

Hi,

I can understand the paranoia, I get it too. I am actually worse before we go, worrying that they will get sick. For one trip when we woke up the morning we were going to leave my son had a 104 temperature. We had to cancel and reschedule. Kids get sick and what can you do? On vacation I use a lot of wipes and antibacterial gel. I also make sure we all wash before we eat. Good luck, I hope no one gets sick.

A friend of mine said that she gives this to her kids when they are traveling, or going to places before they go on vacation. Its like a supervitamin. I think you can get it at over the counter pharmacies or the internet. I, too, am concerned about the kids "getting something" as they will be in the first month of school, exchanging all of those new germs. Good luck!
Oh, they also make Airborne for grownups too!

Thanks for all the tips....I guess I'm just going to hope for the best. I do intend on getting the hand sanitizer and getting them on some vitamin C tablets too.....I know its not proven, but I believe it works!!

My biggest fear is the stomach flu....they tend to be prone to it, so I'm just hoping that they don't catch that!!

Thank you all for your quick replies!
