i wrote a post asking people to think of those who have not been, , Im asking for things to be in perspective, and i would LOVE a whole section that just talks about how exciting Disney is..... your right PERFECT idea!

see how nice my post to you was.... now read yours back...

Your OP was not nice at all. Maybe you should read it back yourself.

Read trip reports :) they're filled with wonderful memories and photos :)

I totally agree and i dont want my post to come across that i dont, of course people are going to complain and you have the right to just as i might when i come back from any holiday destination, i just mean there should be one place for it, or even a 'FIRST TIME IN DISNEY LIVING ON CLOUD NINE' thread that i can just focus on!!

There are a lot of people who love WDW, who look forward to their trips with excitement, who have wonderful experiences with their MB's and who aren't full of doom and gloom. I find them mostly in any thread that doesn't have a discussion of MagicBands and fast passes. The threads on the resort forum are filled with people who are excited about their trips to Disney. We were just there in December and had the best trip ever. I really liked the MB's, and many people do.

My advice is to stay away from the negative discussions. The whole MB's and MyMagic+ program is changing and evolving and will be different by the time you get there in June, anyway. I'm looking forward to my upcoming trips. :)

Being prepared for all possibilities is important for optimizing your first experience. Reading about all the good and the bad should help you to deal with any situations that you may encounter in an informed and expedient manner.

If people are coming to this board looking for strategies to navigate the parks you they have to realize the game is changing everyday. People need to offer their experiences with MM+ for any of us to make any kinds of decisions for our vacations. Asking people to report back but leave out their opinions just isn't going to happen.

It would be impossible to talk theme parks strategy right now without a vigorous discussion of MM+ and FP+. And you are absolutely right, it is changing daily.

I'm staying offsite, because of husbands work.
I am going to have to use the old fast pass system for off site guests or what ever is there the days we are there.
So, I ignore the FP+ threads.

If I were staying onsite and was paying more attention to the FP+ I would take it all with a grain a salt because like some one said, it is changing all the time.

As for things that are different then they used to be. I grew up going to the parks. I went every year. My grandparents took me for my birthday because they had a condo in Ft. Myers and I would go down there for spring break.
I have a lot of frustration over the changes over the years (Horizons, Imagination, etc) because I remember going on those rides with my grandparents have a lot of memories tide to those rides. I kind of wish I could share those rides with my own kid, but I can't, so it makes me sad.

With that said, when we go in 2 weeks, of course we will go and have a good time, and I will love every minute of it, but there is definitely a part of me that will miss the rides that are no longer there.

OP you are going to have a wonderful time at Disney. I promise. As for negative posts here, just ignore them and focus your attention on the positive ones.

unfortunately you arent able to know which are good/bad posts, when i get to a bad i stop reading, but that means im hardly able to read any anymore,

the people with suggestions of logging off you are correct and i am logging off now and wont come back, your right i am an adult, i just thought maybe a board like this will be able to offer excitment and advice seen as it was full of adults.

i didnt add to the s1agging Disney posts off at all, I am not s1agging Disney off at all my aim was to get others to just think about all those who have not been yet when posting.

I am sorry if this post caused offense, THAT WAS NOT (whether you chose to believe me or not) MY INTENTION.

I agree- stay away from MB posts (aside from getting the information you need to tour) and check out the restaurant and resort forums- much more positivity there! also some of the side boards with monthly countdowns etc are more positive!

If the DIS is effecting your life in a negative way, log off. I don't understand why these threads keep popping up. You're an adult, if something makes you upset don't read it. You can't expect the world (or the DIS) to change for you.

People who have negative things to say that make you upset have just as much of a right to be here and post. If you want positivity and excitement so badly, why don't you start a thread discussing why people love Disney so much instead of posting yet another negative thread just like the ones you're complaining about?

Exactly. You'd think from her OP that she's being held against her will with toothpicks propping her eyelids open being forced to read these threads. I don't get it.

People on the DIS provide real and honest insights and opinions on all aspects of their past and future park experiences. It's what makes this place so useful. Why any poster should feel the need to censor themselves exclusively for the enjoyment of "first-timers who only want to hear about sunshine and rainbows" is beyond me.

Personally, I think all the talk of FP+ (both the good and the bad) would be useful to the first time visitor who wants to go into the parks with a real plan. But what do I know?

I am sorry if this post caused offense, THAT WAS NOT (whether you chose to believe me or not) MY INTENTION.

Since you've reportedly logged off and are not coming back, I don't know if you'll read this or not, but...

I don't think anyone is genuinely offended by your post, but instead find it more than a bit ironic that you posted a very negative, sarcastic complaint about all the negative information you've been reading on the board, that's all.

I'm also planning my first trip, but I find all the yelling and drama on the planning board kind of entertaining. :confused3 In part because I know I'm going to have an amazing time no matter what, since I'm living out a childhood wish and giving it to my own kids. It's interesting to me what people get worked up over. I do think there should be a FP+ forum, though, since there's even a separate forum for the Disney Dining Plan.

OP weren't you the one who posted your itinerary and when people gave you thoughtful suggestions and information, you got in a big huff over it?
You are mad that people here are negative, but honestly it seems like everything you post is pretty negative.

I think people are right that DIS may not be the place for you. Have a wonderful trip to Disney when you go and best of luck on your planning.

The MOST negative thing you can do is start a thread complaining about other threads regardless of the topic.

If you don't like a thread, skip it altogether or jump out when it starts to bug you. If you want to hear more about other stuff, start a thread about it. I would suggest "What do you love about Disney?" Or the classic "Help me get excited about my first trip". But to complain about other peoples thoughts, opinions, and experiences simply because you don't like them...? Awful.

I wouldn't assume that the people who are upset about the massive changes, and yes they are massive changes, don't love WDW. Most do, and that is precisely why they are upset or angry etc. Passion goes both ways. What is that saying...the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference.

Everyone is different. I can participate in negative discussions about FP+ and go to WDW and have a great time (I just did in November!) But I get it that other people don't feel the same way. Different strokes and all that.

If the OP wants Rainbows and Sunshine, then the Theme Parks Community board is a pretty good place to go.

I can kind of sympathize with the OP. Since the whole MDE/FP+ transition started, there has been a lot more negativity on the board. Sometimes you start reading a thread about how someone liked FP+ and you get to page two and it goes downhill fast. Or threads that have nothing to do with FP+ get hijacked and no longer discuss the original topic.

I know part of it is that people are resistant to change. I know that part of it is that people will be forced to change if they want to continue visiting WDW. I know part of it has been the frustration of the testing process (growing pains, for lack of a better term) and the changes made daily during that time. I know it doesn't seem fair and it may cause some people to vacation elsewhere. But it would be nice if we could see more posts about how to maximize your day working within the new boundaries - to me that is what strategy is all about. We should be sharing our tips on how to make the new systems work more efficiently, because the new systems are here to stay. Disney may tweak it a little here and there, but basically we just have to adapt and move on, or go elsewhere.

I've been going to WDW since 1971. I've seen a lot of things come and go. Some were great, some not so great. But the one thing you can always count on is nothing will stay the same.

I actually believe those are going to the trip reports board. I also believe they are moving all of the "I'm here and love it" threads there as well. Right along with the "Just got back and love/hate it".
Also the ones that indicate 'I was there and here are some important tips' are moved to the trip reports board.

Can I ask why? I want to be excited about disney but all I read is complaints, surely if you have been going through threads u have read them too? So why is this the most unpleasant? The one that says please think if those who haven't been yet?!

IMO, I don't think anyone on this board hates Disney. I think there are a lot of problems happening with MBs/FP+ right now, and people are writing about it because they are significant aspects of theme park strategies - which is what this board is about.

I would suggest visiting the trip reports board if you are looking for things that will help you stay excited about your trips. I don't say that to mean that there is nothing positive on this board, because I think there is. But I do think the nature of the boards are different, and you're more likely to find what you seem to be looking for from the trip reports board.

One post you may find especially helpful is Hydroguy's WDW Guide for DLR vets. DLR and WDW are very different experiences, and Hydroguy is a very knowledgeable DLR vet who has also been to WDW. For some reason I can't hyperlink it, so here is the link:

I do hope you enjoy your WDW vacation!

I have to say, with all the changes (and no real clue as to what it's going to be like for someone staying off site in the spring), I had second thoughts about going again this March!

Then, I look at how much fun we have there, and it's not all about the rides to us. The shows, the little things like hanging out in Innoventions, the countries in Epcot, snacks(!), and getting away from the cold weather all are fun.

First trip, my husband and I were on such a tight budget. Stayed off site, went morning till night, ate in the room (Res Inn), and had a blast. It wasn't my first time but it was his.

I think the trip will be magical if you make it so. I used to do so many little things for the kids, like letting the Easter Bunny know where we were (Contemporary resort) so he could surprise them on Easter with their little baskets of goodies. To the OP, it sounds like you were having a bad day. I'm sure you'll have fun! I totally think I'd rather be at Disney on a rainy day than home anyway!

THIS X 1000! ^

Rather than letting perceived "negativity" get you down, sift through the good and the bad so that you are armed with knowledge that will help ensure you have a magical trip. Knowing potential roadblocks/challenges will help you to avoid them.

If the OP wants Rainbows and Sunshine, then the Theme Parks Community board is a pretty good place to go.
