Sick 2 year old...

My oldest dd was queen of strep(13 times in a year) and she NEVER had a sore throat. She would vomit. Hope your baby is feeling better soon.

Ditto for me. At ages 2-5 years, first sign of vomit with DS and DD and I knew it was strep. Often no or very low fever and never complained of throat pain. Strep was the first thing I thought after seeing your post.

This might be late but does your insurance provider have a 24 hour nurses line that you could call? When we're not sure if it's an ER issue (usually on the weekends or late at night) we call the nurses line listed on our insurance card and receive advice on what we should do. Aside for the insurance coverage itself, this is the best part of our coverage.

My oldest son was like that. He'd get up and vomit in the hall about 1am and I didn't even have to look at his throat to know it was strep. It happened more times than I can count.

On the other hand, DD never ran fever and didn't have much redness. She would just feel bad and lay around. Take her in and sure enough, she's got strep.

Some advice please. I really don't like taking my kids to the E.R. unless I have to and my doctor is always packed to get an appointment last minute...

On Wenesday night my DD(2 almost 3) threw up...thought nothing of it, she was jumping around after dinner, figured that was the issue.

On Thursday morning as soon as she woke up, she...for lack of a better word, spit up. I was a tiny bit of what appeared to be curttled milk. All through the day, you could tell she wasn't feeling too hot, but she ate here and there. Around 5 she was perky and herself again. (she did say she has a sore throat at one point but I've had one so I figured she was playing off me). We went to DH basketball game, and she was herself.

Came home last night, and she went to bed around 8. At 12 she woke up gagging. I calmed her down and she didn't throw up. I gave her some water and she went back to sleep. Around 4 she woke up with...sorry TMI...VERY runny stool. I changed her and threw her sheets in the washer. Well she just threw up some water-like stuff(bile maybe...would that water still be in her system?)It doesn't have that foul smell that usually comes with the bile...

I know to try to keep her hydrated...and if there is any fever it is very low...

WWYD? Should I wait it out a little longer and keep her on the BRAT diet?

Like I said...I HATE E.R.s...especially since I live on post and have to take her to a very busy military hospital...

The part about the sore throat has me wondering that she might have strep. Its easy to tell, just shine a flashlight down the back of her mouth/throat while she opens her mouth and says "AHHHHH" You will visually see swollen glands/blister looking pustules. Strep can give a child vomitting, headache, rash on the torso area, back/neck/leg aches, fatigue, loss of appetite, stuffy nose/sinus issues and a very sore throat.

I just hope your baby girl feels better soon!

ETA: I can see I am slow to post! LOL...anyways glad I am not the only parent who thought STREP!
