Boy are my 2 DD's SO different from one another :rotfl: I was putting away their clothes this morning and in my 5 yr old's room it was perfectly clean, all the toys were put away, everything in it's proper place and her bed was made (she makes her bed EVERY morning as soon as she wakes up and we've never told her to, heck I don't even make MY bed every morning LOL). I walk into my 9 yr old's room and it looks like a disaster area, clothes all over the place, books piled up, bed sheets thrown every which way..it looked like it needed FEMA and not MOM!

It got me thinking about how different they really are, my 5 yo thrives on routine, making the bed, comes home from school puts her lunchbox in the exact same spot, takes her hat, gloves and scarf and puts it in the winterwear basket, puts her dirty laundry in the appropriate sections of the divided laundry basket thingy (lol)..she does this all on her own and it works best for her; however she struggles with "book knowledge" things with school. She is very creative and does well with coloring and simple things but often needs help with writing, spelling etc (she's only in Kindergarten, so it's not a huge concern) Meanwhile, my 9 yr old is like a mad scientist! She is SO book smart, she reads for hours on end, is 2 grades ahead in math, science and reading but she is a total MESS! Never puts her clothes away, forgets where she leaves things, sometimes forgets her lunch in the morning..if her head wasn't attatched she would likely forget that too!

It makes them unique but it just makes me giggle looking at them going through their respective "routines" and seeing how different they are!!

Look at the picture in my siggie. They are polar opposites, and are less than a year apart in age.

Hannah loves clothes and has more pairs of shoes than I do. The latest purchase is a pair of pink cowboy boots with jewels on them. She loves dresses, and skirts. She loves to read and is very sensitive, and eager to please. She wants to be a teacher and a grocery store cashier. For Christmas she asked for Littlest Pet Shop items.

Emily could not care less what she wears, as long as it is not a dress. She wears the same pair of shoes every day to school, and when Hannah got her cowboy boots, Emily asked for a pair of Carhart work pants and a Carheart hat. She likes school, but things come to her very easily, so she doesn't practice as much as she should. She likes to please, but doesn't want you to know about it. She wants to be a fire fighter. For Christmas she asked for Army toys.

Isn't being a parent, fun?

My sister and I are POLAR opposites, in more ways then 100!!

I am the creative one, wrote my first book at 5, skipped a class in the 2nd grade, graduated at the top of my class at 16 and graduated with 2 degrees from college at 20... My room?? What is organization??? No clue!! Oscar Madison here!

My sister is the neat one. Dropped out in the 8th grade but is nit picky to the core. Not a book learned or creative person but managed to keep a very stringent job in the federal government for years. Me? I'm in broadcasting... what else????

The best part was my parents loved us EQUALLY. Never were we pitted against each other or told one was better or worse than the other. We're 50 and 51 respectively now and we STILL laugh about how our parents managed to deal with our differences!!!

BTW, my son is a neatnik and her daughter is a slob....:rotfl2: wouldn't ya KNOW it????

My DH has an evil twin. I'm serious.

My nieces are like this, 18 mths apart. One is VERY VERY orgnanized, neat, overachiever/Honors student, star softball pitcher, teacher's pet and all that. The other is messy, unorganized, not big on putting too much effort into her schoolwork (although doing well in college now), but VERY BRIGHT. They are both wonderful young women, just very different.

Heck, even my cats who are sisters are EXTREMELY different...one is fat, laid back and afraid of nothing...the other is skinny and a big scaredy cat. :rotfl:

My cats are, too. One is skinny, laid back and afraid of nothing. The other is fat, and hides in a dresser drawer whenever someone new comes to the house. :rotfl:

My brother (whom I love no matter what stupid thing he does next!) and I are from different planets. My sister and I have a lot more in common, even though we are much further apart in age.

My DSister and I are opposites in some ways and similar in others, despite being almost 11 years apart.

We're both very smart and try our hardest in school...BUT I excel in English and social sciences and struggle in math and science (ironically my major in college). She is a natural at math and science and has been offered the opportunity to skip grades, although my parents declined. We definitely have a little left brain/right brain difference going on!

When I was a child, I wouldn't even look family members in the eye because I was SOOOO shy. I finally came out of my shell in high school and even moreso in college. My sister is the spotlight of attention, no matter what...She's not afraid to talk to anyone and completely comfortable in social situations at her age.

We both are pack rats, we save EVERYTHING, while our mom throws away almost EVERYTHING! Haha. There's plenty more reasons I'm forgetting I'm sure.

My brother and I are extremely different. The one thing we have in common is our extreme love (okay obsession) for Disney. Though he is even more a Disney freak than I am. Last year we took a family trip to WDW, it was my brothers first trip and he teared up when we went into the Magic Kingdom. The exact reaction I was hoping for. His wife thinks we are nuts.
