Shuttling from Hilton

I have no choice but to stay at the Hilton because H will be in a convention while I am in the parks. I will be with my 18 mo old. Are the shuttles good or would it be better to just drive? I want to do early AM's and break in the afternoon. Would I be spending too much time waiting on a shuttle?

We have stayed at the Hilton before and are staying there again for our next Disneyland trip in a few weeks. The shuttles work fine. It picks up right out front at designated times. The one thing I don't like about the shuttle is coming back at night. After spending the day in the parks, the last thing you want to do is wait for a shuttle and it can get pretty crowded at the end of the day too. Lots of jockeying for position when it pulls up.

Apparently, there is now a Disneyland parking lot just across Harbor. It would be a little bit of a walk, but I read that shuttles are plentiful (and free). At least coming back on those shuttles might be a better option. We're going to give it a try.

Tried to use a walking counter map to see how far it is. Looks like from the Hilton front door to the middle of the parking lot where the trams pick up would be about 1/3 of a mile I think.

Anybody else used the Toy Story Lot when staying at the Hilton?

Thank you! One more question - How early do the shuttles leave the hotel? Enough time to make park opening?

We have been staying at the Hilton the last few years and use the shuttle all the time. It is a bus and it costs money to use. There is a ticket machine near the front entrance where you can buy multi-day passes. Children under a certain age are free. Yes, you can get to the park in plenty of time for early opening using the buses. If it is a nice day the walk to the park is not bad at all especially if you have a stroller.

We've never stayed at the Hilton, but we stay at the Marriott directly across the street (side street with pedestrian crosswalk) fairly often. Each one has a bus, so it's really easy to hop on either bus. That's nice for when buses are crowded, or one bus comes before the other, etc. They run about every 20 minutes or so, starting about half an hour before park opening time. Getting to the parks at opening time has only been problematic for us once in the 15 or so days that we've used the shuttle, and it was during a busy Halloweentime weekend. Your 18 month old will ride for free. If you're going to ride multiple days, it's a better deal to buy the multi-day pass. Note that you must be able to fold your stroller down. We also return to the hotel for a mid-day nap, and we've never found it to be a hassle.

A separate note: the Hilton has a GREAT indoor play room for kids! It's down the stairs by the food court. Perfect if you hit some rainy days.

Have fun!
