Shuttle vs. drive to port

We are taking our second Disney cruise in the spring. Last time we did a 4 day and left our car at a hotel and took the shuttle. This time we are doing a 7 day. We are traveling with two other families. They want to stay at a hotel, leave our car at the hotel, and take the shuttle. Is this what most people do, book at a hotel, leave their car for a week, and take the shuttle to the port? Is there any advantage to leaving our car at the port?

You can do what sutes you. Having done all options I park a car at the terminal it's quick it's easy and not to expensive. All others have more issues on luggage and shuttles.

I prefer parking at the terminal too, but I usually stay with family who are a few hours away. I won't consider offsite parking. When they drag me kicking and screaming off the ship, I just want to get in my car and not piddle around with shuttles. :drive:

For people who want to spend the night near the port, I would consider one of those cruise and sail packages just to save on some costs. Chances are you've about paid for the cost of parking at the port with your room rate ($100-$150). But I can think of a lot of other places I would rather stay than near PC.

We have family in Jacksonville, so we drove down, spent the night with them, and then drove the rest of the way the next morning. Stayed at the Park and Cruise and rode the shuttle to the port. Easy peasy.
