I am trying to decide whether to rent a car or do a supershuttle between the airport (SNA) and the hotel (Quality Inn Anaheim, behind Mimi's). We can get the car (full size) on points, and the taxes would be $29.99 total. The shuttle for the 2 of us would be $40.00 RT. Now, we are planning on walking to DL, and will be staying in the area the whole time, so I am thinking is it worth it to rent the car and use up the 2000 Hertz points? I am a little nervous about driving on the freeways. Is it easy to get from SNA to the DLR area? How long of a drive is it? What would YOU do? Thanks!!:flower3:

Are you going to the parks on your departure day? (& when does you flight leave?)

If everything else was equal & renting a car allowed me to stay at the parks a couple of extra hours, then i'd be renting. (But I'm used to strange city traffic.)

We fly into LAX, so I can't help with the other questions.

our flight leaves at 11:14 am and the parks don't open until 10:00 am that day, so we will not be going into DL at all before flying out. We will be going in on our arrival day. Our flight gets in at 12:50 pm and DL is open until midnight!!

We always rent a car when going to DL, but that's mainly because we either fly into LAX or drive from Las Vegas. Also, it allows us to visit other things in the area like the shops at Knott's Berry Farm, or visit friends who live near LA.

But, if I were ONLY going to visit DL and knew I didn't want/care to visit anything else, I might consider the shuttle. Some hotels charge for parking, so you might want to check on that, but I doubt the Quality Inn charges (Disney hotels and higher end chains charge). Also, everything around DL is very close, so while you're there, you shouldn't have the need for a car unless you want to do something non-Disney or away from the area.

However, if you think that you might want the flexibility of driving, driving between SNA and DL is not as bad as driving from LAX, at least in my opinion (and I'm nervous about driving around LA). But beware of traffic in the morning. Once we picked up a friend at SNA around 9 a.m. and got stuck in traffic on the way there from DL. SNA is also much closer that LAX. We did a "trial run" the night before picking up our friend, about 8 p.m., and it took maybe 20 minutes. But with the traffic in the morning, it was at least double that time.

I'd take the shuttle (you wouldn't want to mess with a rental car drive & drop off that last morning anyway).

Disney is about 20 minutes from the airport. I live close to the airport, and I take the 405 to 55 to the 5 to get to Disney. There can be a lot of traffic depending on the time of day.

I think a car is really worth it if you decide to do things other than Disney (the beach, Knotts Berry farm, Los Angeles, etc) otherwise, I would stick with the shuttle.
