Shuttle/Towncar/Limo/Van FAQ's!

Just a side note...

Quicksilver only charges the 20% gratuity for the stretched Limousines, not the Towncars and Vans.:earsboy:

I couldn't agree more. I'm simply trying to take the "informed" point of view by printing what is listed there so that others can weigh the options for themselves. If someone is more interested in saving money, then by all means Mears is the way to go, and it's worked well for me several times.

Maybe if I say that "most DIS'ers prefer the towncars, but Mears is certainly a cost-viable option if you prefer to save the money for other things"? I'm open to suggestions....

I have no problem with your new wording but I don't agree agree with the link you give with the horror stories about Mears. Those stories are the exception ans shouldn't be the basis of a decision any more than an occasional bad experience by one of the better rated towncar companies.

It certainly fair to say that between waiting and making a few stops Mears may take an extra hour. Anything more than that isn't fair since you're only documenting uncommon problems with Mears and not with the alternatives. I think on a daily basis more people take Mears than most of the towncar companies combined. The number of MAJOR complaints is very small.

*bowing down to the wisdom of the almighty lewisc* :teeth:

You are correct, and I have taken away the links to be fair to Mears and everyone. That's why I've asked for suggestions, because I certainly want this resource to be useful to everyone using it. Thanks for the suggestion! ::yes::

You can set up your FAQ anyway you want.:D You asked for opinions. Every so often someone posts about a legitimate problem with Mears. A driver gets lost. They don't have enough people so the stops get crazy. Using those posts as a reason not to use Mears makes as much sense as using the occasional post about a no show towncar driver as a reason not to use a towncar.

I think to some people using a towncar is almost like a religion. It's simply one way to get from the airport to your resort. Rental car, Mears and even a taxi are all alternatives.

TAXI--From the airport it's probably not any cheaper than reserving a towncar. I stayed at an airport hotel (Sheraton Suites--Pricelinel) the first night. I didn't want to book a towncar since I didn't want to commit to a specific pickup time. The hotel got me a taxi with a flat rate of $40. Worked out great.

Absolutely agreed on the taxi, I've found that usually it is not any cheaper than the other options, although it does allow for not being tied down to a schedule beforehand.

I really appreciate all of the info contained in this thread but I still have a question. What if there are 7 people? Do all of these town car companies also have vans or are there lonly specific ones who can handle 7 people?

We have friends who will be going from MCO to All-Star.

Any suggestions??

Last Easter we were 5 adults travelling from MCO to ASMu-FLTours van service was excellent. Our concern was the amount of luggage space and there was no problem in either direction.

:mickeybar Well, I'm feeling much better about using Mears, thanks to the voice of reason, LouisC. Going solo, I've struggled with HOW do I get from the airport to WL? You've put things in perspective, and I know that everything will be just fine with Mears. Thanks! :D
