We're flying into LGB this fall, and are trying to figure out how to get to the HoJo. We'll be traveling with five small children, all who require carseats/boosters still, and we don't really want to bring them all with us. (The seats that is, not the children. ;)) Does anyone have a recommendation for a shuttle service/towncar service that will provide more than one or two seats?

I wonder if a bus is an option?

The children could sit on your laps and you wouldn't need to fiddle with the extra baggage of carseats.

Wow, 5 little ones! I can only imagine their excitement. Have fun!

We are having similar trouble finding transport from LGB to HoJo. We are bringing our kids boosters, though. As far as I can tell, there is no bus at LGB. Just shuttles and taxis and towncars. You can also rent a car - but you still have to have the carseats. I am pretty sure that you have to have carseats/boosters on the shuttles, too. I have never rented car seats from an outside company. It would make me really nervous. But, I also wouldn't want to drag 5 of them with me, either. :scared1:

what is the age when boosters or car seats are not nbeeded there and we can use a seat belt?

I think it's not an age, it's a size (although I cannot tell you specifically what it is). Shuttles do not provide carseats/boosters that I am aware of - you would have to bring your own.

Try calling a taxi or limo service company. I *think* they have to have carseats available, though there is probably a charge. Still, it might be worth it and a taxi would be quite a bit cheaper anyway with that many in your group (taxis have vans for larger groups).

This is a gray area and you'll get many different responses depending upon whom you ask. I never did get it figured out! There are rules for car owners and different rules for public transportation and the law is constantly changing. For families, I think the current CA law states "8 years/80 lbs" as far as boosters go but that isn't required for public transportation, or at least we've never had to follow it. They generally allow you to use the buckle alone unless you have an infant or very small child. Nothing is required on a bus, but taxis and shuttles are supposed to have carseats, which they may or may not provide. The shuttles in OC do not, but I'm pretty sure the taxis do. We stopped bringing boosters when our girls were 5 and had no problems. I think children under 4 would need a seat of some type, if not by law then for safety reasons. Between 4-6 I don't really worry about a booster or carseat in a shuttle, but others would.

ETA: the taxi companies only have a limited number of seats, so you would want to reserve ahead of time

my son is 7, so I am hoping not. thank you for the answers :)

Thanks for the replies. :goodvibes I guess I'll just keep looking. All our children are small, so even the six and seven year-old still need boosters. I called GoldenWest, and they said they only have infant seats, and I could only get two. PrimeTime (or maybe SuperShuttle, I don't remember) doesn't provide seats at all. Maybe we'll just bite the bullet and bring the seats. Thankfully we only need two suitcases. It's difficult enough to wrangle all the children through an airport, even to check-in. :scared1: Thanks again!
