My In laws have decided to fly into LAX for our upcoming trip. We have only flown into John Wayne, so this is new territory for us. They will be arriving after us, at 8:30 on a Thursday morning. One of us can drive back up to LAX to pick them up or we can put them on a shuttle. Which would you guys choose? I'm a little scared of the time factor with commute traffic :scared1:

Has anyone done this before? How long should we expect it to take? Or go the shuttle route...who should we go through and how much will it likely cost us?

Thanks for the advice guys!!!!!!

All I can say is that we just used Super Shuttle and I would highly recommend them.

I booked Super Shuttle last May from Ontario. We had a late evening flight that was delayed. I called them and told them what would be happening. Then our flight then got delayed further. We arrived at midnight to find no shuttle in sight. When we called, after being on hold for something like 15 minutes, we were told it would be at least 45 minutes before they MIGHT have someone dispatched to get us. We were basically stranded in the middle of the night, and ended up getting on another company's shuttle that happened to be there. It was a bit of a hassle to get our money refunded. The return trip back to the airport was at least on time, but we were the last people picked up for that run, and one of the seat belts for the last two remaining seats was broken. Needless to say, I will never ever EVER book through them again!

In December I had an extended layover in LAX and took Disneyland Resort Express (not to be confused with Disneyland Express, which is a different shuttle service) for a quick day trip to DLR. They have big comfy charter style buses that pick up at the airport on a regular schedule (hourly during early morning and late afternoon/evening; every 30 minutes midday). It was nice to stretch out a bit after being cramped on the airplane for a couple hours. You don't need a reservation, so flight delays will not mess anything up, as you just wait for the next bus. They drop off at all of the Disney hotels and many of the offsite hotels as well.

If you buy a voucher on their website, the cost is $20 for a one way trip. It's a couple of dollars more if you don't prepay.

We just used Super Shuttle when we were at Disneyland from LAX. They were on time and we got to where we were supposed to go, but I had just a couple of complaints....

1. I swear that I had read where there was supposed to be a maximum of 7 persons in the van. Both ways, we had over 7 and on the way to the Airport we were packed in with 10 plus the driver.......

2. OMG - This is the first trip we have taken were I was happy to see the airport going home. Driver was doing 90 on the highway to get passed other cars. Almost rear ended a car while picking people up. All the while, I am in the back seat of the van with only a lap belt on. Call me paranoid but I took care of a patient at the hospital one time who almost had her abdomen ripped in half in a car accident by only having a lap belt on. YIKES...

Then again, this might have been an isolated incident....

We're going to be using Disneyland Express. It's a big bus type shuttle. For 5 people, it cost us $99.99 and then for 1 child, $23. Which is quite reasonable, I believe.
