Having a snoop around to see whats on in Orlando for when we're out there and came across a possible shuttle launch for 6 Aug. Has anyone ever done this and do you have to buy tickets to view? if so were do we get them from and are they worth it?

You can buy tickets, but there are also plenty of places around KSC where you can view the launch for free - not as 'up close and personal' as the ticketed entry, but still amazing from all accounts!

We've never made it over to Kennedy to watch a launch, but have seen two from within WDW and, even at that distance, it's a sight I'll never forget :)

The dates given for launches are always a guide only, and often change, sometimes at the last minute.

We've seen several launches now. From KSC, and from Cocoa Beach. It's quite an experience, although always so far away that there is no detail to be seen, just like a huge firework rocket, which disappears after thirty seconds or so.

Last time, November, we watched from Downtown Disney. Not quite as good, but not sufficiently worse to merit the effort of travelling down to the coast.

So much easier, no travel or parking problems, and Disney magic still on hand.;)

We watched from here http://www.titusville.com/Page.asp?NavID=207
Great atmoshpere, stalls selling memorabilia, food, free restrooms, ice cream etc.
Hoping they delay the 6th Aug a day or 2, we land on the 6th. A night launch would be great but would go see another day launch.
Maybe you can get closer if you pay but we will be going back to where we went last time.

Our friends paid for tickets for a launch last October however it was delayed ans so they never got to see the launch, we are going to be there for the sheduled May 12th Launch so we have opted to go to Cocoa Beach to stay for a few nights in the hope that if it is delayed we will still be close enough we dont plan to buy tickets but drive to the Titusville area.
We have always thought it would be a nice change of pace to stay at Cocoa ,we have done day trips there (not keen on Clearwater area) also stayed at Vero beach (lovely).
We got the hotel off Hot wire as the prices all seemed a bit pricey so we chanced it and got Comfort Inn (near to Ron JOns) for $57 per night instead of over $120 per night ,it gets a good right up on tripadvisor.:) :) :)

Good luck because we have been dissapointed so many times trying to see a launch, we thought we had cracked it last time but no no as usual it was changed.
