The official launch date for space shuttle Atlantis will be set this Thursday at the agency-level Flight Readiness Review, which will be held at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA managers will hold a news conference to confirm the date following the wrap-up of the review. The purpose of the day-long meeting is to verify that the shuttle and payload are ready to go for the STS-125 mission to service NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. The targeted launch date is May 11, with a liftoff time of 2:01 p.m. EDT.
At Kennedy's Launch Pad 39A, technicians are preparing Atlantis for launch, closing out the shuttle's aft compartment and conducting payload interface verification. Tanker deliveries of liquid oxygen used to help power the shuttle's ascent to space continue to arrive at the pad.
At NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, the STS-125 astronauts today continued their training by conducting a launch simulation and review of spacewalk procedures.

I wish we were there as we missed the last one by a few days, and time is running out to see one of these.

I am hoping for a delay on either May 11th launch or August 6th.
Our dates are May 21st-30th or August 6th-31st so more chance of the August launch, we land late on 6th so even 1 day dalay would work.

Would love to see a night launch although seeing another day launch would be great.

We are hoping to see this launch, the last time our trips to Florida coincidid with a launch was April 1989, we were lucky enough to be given tickets to the viewing areas, sadly it was cancelled at T-31 seconds so everything crossed that we get too see this one, am a bit worried that they may move it back another day as we arrive in Orlando on the 10th and would not get to see it:confused3

Hi Wayneg we will be in Orlando until the 24th May may be we will see you:thumbsup2

Well look out for me but can't tell you where we will be, we have no plans for this trip really, a few meals with friends(cast members & from DIS) and DW wants to be in MK for her Birthday on 28th, apart from that no idea yet.

i'm hoping for an august delay as well! we loved the one we saw last feb

Hi Wayneg we have some plans eg space shuttle launch on the 11th May lots of park days and hanging around our villa pool, also going to Cocoa beach for a couple of nights there will be 6 of us Me DH DD and Dsil Ds and his girlfriend.
We want a good carefree time, but its starting to get stressful, the flu thing (wont stop us going unless they cancel the flights) also no tickets for the parks as yet, we booked with Pillinger rang this morrning they said that they have half of them!!!:rolleyes1

We plan to be in Magic Kingdom about 2pm on the 11th May. Is there a good spot to see it in MK, or is it a bad viewing place. I think I read somewhere that that the bridge on the way to tomorrowland was an ok place.
