I know I have seen pictures from WDW of shuttle launches. I know we won't be able to see much but can it be seen from AK??? It is scheduled to launch on 12/14 and my DS would LOVE to see it.

I don't know for sure about AK but this is the view I had from Pop Century. It truly was the highlight of the trip. Everyone outside cheered and clapped, Very cool. I hope you are as lucky in Dec.

It is an amazing sight if you're lucky enough to be there the day they launch since they change the dates A LOT, up until the last few minutes prior to lift off!

If you have a clear view of the east sky, the higher the better, you should be able to see it. Even though it's like a small spec in the sky, it's really something. It'll give you goose bumps!! I saw one years ago. I was watching it on tv from my hotel room and a balcony facing east (this was in Altamonte Springs-north Orlando area). Watching it on tv and then looking out the balcony was just ....amazing!! :goodvibes

We are staying at AS Sports so maybe just maybe. Hey I'm not above going to the parking lot to see it either. We went to Kennedy Space Center last year on our Disney trip so shuttles are just soooo cool to my 4 year old. I have seen a couple launched before but my DH never has. I really wish they would delay it by one day so we could see it even better on our way home. Oh well, we will wait and see.

By the way, isobar did you have some sort of zoom on that camera to take that picture or what?? Just curious.

No zoom on camera, just the lens that came with my Canon Rebel Digital. I think it was 18mm-55mm. I did do zoom in a little with some photo editing afterwards. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help!!! And I want your camera. :rotfl: I have a Sony digital and I have already put my request into my DH that when I wear this one out, I'm getting a rebel. He just thinks I'm nuts. :confused3

The problem with the AK is the heavy tree cover all through the park. But yeah, you can see the shuttle launch from just about anywhere at WDW.

On the 4th of July I saw it going up as soon as I got out of Mission Space, right over the building, it was picture perfect.
