I know that there have been threads recently of people attempting to see the space shuttle launch while on vacation at WDW in May. They've just announced that the launch will be pushed back to July 31. They are rolling the shuttle back for repairs.

I only read that they are considering a push back... are you sure it's a done deal?

I saw a shuttle launch 2 or 3 years ago, and it was excellent!

I did not know even know if was supposed to be when we were going to be there until after they said they might move it.
Hope it does not make too many people upset.

"NASA on Friday delayed by another two months the first space shuttle flight since the Columbia disaster, saying it needs more time to ensure that the fuel tank does not shed dangerous pieces of ice at liftoff.

Discovery is now scheduled for launch no earlier than July 12. The flight had been targeted for late May." (Source)

I was so excited last week about going to see the launch on May 22nd. Last time I was in Florida I missed it by 1 day. One of these days I'll get to see it.

On the news today, they said it was July 15th or 16th, can't remember which one.

"NASA announced on April 29 that Discovery's Return to Flight would move to the July launch window to allow for further safety analysis and perhaps the addition of a heater to the external tank to address icing issues. The decision was made April 28, after a series of reviews showed that further work was needed to address debris issues and some items that were discovered during work on the launch pad.

The target launch date has now changed to July 13, 2005 at with a launch window extending through July 31, 2005." From KSC

Until the next delay that is. They blew by my June dates, but hey maybe November will work :rotfl: (But better safe than sorry)

PS. That's KSC's typo not mine :teeth:

I was pulling for a June launch as well. That stinks. I am glad they are taking all the precautions. Let's all hope for a safe launch whenver it is. Even if they skip over June altogether.

I'm not sure if the tickets are transferable (checking on that at the moment), but if they are, I'd be interested in purchasing 2 from anybody who might have any extras or can't use them b/c of the date change. Please let me know if so! :-) Thanks so much.

John

We're disappointed to be missing it on our trip, but better safe than sorry.

NASA has moved the launch date again-from July 12 at 3:45 PM EST to July 13 at 3:45 PM EST.What are the chances that they will move it again?I have given up trying to plan a special trip to see the launch. :) LOL!If everything goes well with Discovery, should the next launch date be more reliable?

so far, we've never seen a launch even though one was scheduled for almost every one of our trips...but they all were postponed due to weather....kind of a crazy place for a launch pad....wild weather florida....
