Shuttle launch date changed

was thinking of having a beach day on sunday 9th but thinking of changing to 7th now and checking out the launch. If date is not changed how likely is the 9am launch likely to stay the same?
As i said afterwards we thinking of heading to a beach and some breakfast/lunch any local beach and restaurant recomendations?

Never been but this used to get a lot of good reviews http://www.nbbd.com/pauls/index.html although reading tripadvisor looks more mixed now http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...ews-Paul_s_Smokehouse-Titusville_Florida.html
No idea about time.

I would also be interested in this? How long approx does it take to get to Titusville from the Orlando/Kissimee area (not sure where we're staying until nearer our travel date 21 july)

Its about 1 hour drive with low traffic levels, if traffic if busy then add time on.

Did you all hear that Endeavours launch over the weekend was pushed back due to problems with the launch pad? Delay is expected to be several days (launch date is showing as "no earlier than June 17th" currently), which may impact on the schedule of future launches.

We were out there unexpectedly for the launch of the last shuttle.
We headed down to Cocoa beach as we have never been there and thought it would be a nice place to watch it from.
Took about an hour to get there, a little longer to get back due to traffic but nothing horrendous. Cocoa is very touristy personally i LOVE touristy so I was happy. There are a ton of beach front grills and bars but we just fancied Pizza Hut that day.
There is a huge Ron Jon's (with Starbucks) there are free parking. Even on launch day we got a parking spot super easy. On the beach itself we rented an umbrella and 4 chairs for around $40 (a daily special) and the men loved hanging out in the sea.
When the shuttle launched we could see it great and hear it too. Very exciting. One recomendation is either take a radio or stay buy your car so you can hear the countdown.

Endeavours launch has been delayed another 3 weeks. They havent updated Discoverys date yet but I'd imagine Endeavour being delayed by a month will have to have an impact on Discoverys launch as well.

Indeed... although they might also move STS-128 to launch pad 39-B. I don't know if it's common for them to do this, but they do have 2 pads available.

It would suck for all you August people if they delayed Discovery, but I can't help being super excited that Endeavour is now scheduled to launch when we're there!

I'd read somewhere that 39-B wasnt available because its being rebuilt for the ares/orion rockets. Maybe that work hasnt started yet though.

They havent used 39-B in so long though :confused3

You're absolutely correct! I wasn't aware of that until now.

We saw the first ever shuttle launch and would love to see another one so am hoping it is delayed til after the 23 august :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just found out that Endevour should be going up whilst im there.

Thats something ive always wanted to see!

UPDATE!!! The launch now scheduled for 18th aug 04.25 am. Great news for us as we will be there!
As we are not hiring a car can anyone suggest the best place to view without needing a bank loan for a cab? Any suggestions on how to get there, are there buses laid on from anywhere in WDW?
Thanks in advance

18th will be still good for us, early start to the day at 4:25am.
Now no more delays please, we go on the cruise on the 22nd.

Don't know your options without a car apart from expensive taxi.

Several companies like Gator Tours and Florida Dolphin Tours offer bus tours that include launch tickets. They do pick-ups at various hotels.

I so hope it launches on the 18th, we will be there then!!

18th is fantastic for us - we're at Vero Beach in a ocean view room - wake up, go out on balcony, watch launch, go back to sleep - perfect!

Thats great planning:thumbsup2 I wonder if their rates have increased for that night

I'd better keep an eye on my DVC points - see if they take any extra for the "Shuttle View" room!

Or maybe I can recoup some of my holiday costs by selling admission tickets to my balcony!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

We did a Gatortour for Discovery's 121 launch because we were too late to buy Kennedy's own tickets.

The launch was a totally amazing experience but the bus trip was so uncomfortable. Too many pickups so it took us almost 3 hrs to get there (we were the first pickup), bus was over-bearingly hot and left for home very early so we didn't feel we had the time to see much of Kennedy. :sad1:

I would honestly recommend a hire car for a few days. It would probably be cheaper than what we paid for the bus as well.

sorry guys but I dont think you should get your hopes up! the 18th is the absolute earliest they can get it launched now - and thats assuming endeavour does launch on its scheduled date and that there are absolutely no hitches (which is very rare!) for discovery.
