I won a trip to universal for 4 days. I really LOOOVVVVEEEE WDW so I would love to spend one day there - at least downtown disney. I am not renting a car, is there any type of shuttle from the hotels in universal to WDW??

Nothing free...Universal and Disney are competitors...you would have to contact Mears to arrange a trip from Universal to WDW.

www.mearstransportation.com

Or take a cab...which can be expensive.

darn, thought i could get something free or cheap.

what is the price range for mears?

It's $18.00 round trip per person but you can go on the website I gave you and do a calculation for a cab. They offer that through the website.

You could probably take a city bus to DTD and then take a Disney bus to a resort and then switch to a bus to the parks. I don't know if it would be worth the savings though.

You can walk to I-Drive (10 minutes), pick up the 8 bus to Sea World then change to the 50 and go to the TTC or DTD. It'll cost you $2 each way, but it'll take an hour. We do it though :thumbsup2

Lynx would make a killing if they operated a direct route between the two parks (stopping at Sea World on the way perhaps) but I guess it's in neither company's interests to allow them to do so.

What hotel are you staying at? Some of the offsite hotels have shuttles to WDW. We are going in the summer and hoping to find a hotel that does this. Otherwise, we will rent a car for a few days. You can almost do that cheaper than Mears, even with 2 people.

it had occured to me that i could probably take a shuttle to a nearby offsite hotel and then catch another from the hotel to DTD.

I am staying at the Hard Rock Hotel on site.

If you're talking about using the hotel's shuttle to get to Disney, you're not going to be able to do that without a ticket. Hotels only offer the service to their residents; you have to show a room key to get hold of a shuttle ticket (it's also to make sure that you don't have 200 people waiting for a 30-seater bus).

You basically have four options:

1. Cab
2. Rent a car
3. Public buses/walking
4. Mears shuttle

I don't know. This past summer when we were at Hyatt Place, I never saw anyone show a room ticket and we definitely didn't show one.

Really? I've stayed at 3 different I-Drive hotels which ALL required a ticket for the bus. :confused3

We were there 7 days and took the shuttle 6 of those. We just came downstairs and waited outside for the shuttle to come. Our shuttle stopped at a few other hotels, but all of them were on the street across from the entrance to Universal--I think it is Major or Caravan.

now that i think about it i have taken shuttles once or twice at hotels where i wasnt a guest either.
