My DD and her friend are heading to Manhatten, N.Y this weekend and flying into Newark...anyone know of a shuttle that will take them into the city and the approx cost??
Many thanks!!! :thumbsup2

There is the Olympia Trail bus. It leaves right outside all of the terminals' Olympia bus stop about once every 1/2 hour *I think.* It costs $16 each way & drops/picks up people at Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd St & 8th Ave. (One block from Times Square. )

Since I live so close to Times Square, I always fly from Newark & take this bus.

If DD is taking American Airlines, as she is heading down the escalator to baggage pickup, she needs to head left, all the way down to the end of the terminal & out the door to the left. There, just beyond the building will be the Olympia bus stop.

If she & her friend decide to take a taxi instead, make sure she gets the price (including tolls) from the driver BEFORE stepping into the car. They like to raise the price after people get in, (there is no taxi meter,) or suddenly charge more for a second person, or by saying it's more for a second person or second stop. :sad2: It takes a saavy, rude NYer to tell them where to shove it, for them to realize we are not tourists they can scam.

You can take the AirTrain to the NJTransit train station at the airport and then take the train into Penn Station.

Check out Newark airport's website for more info.

Super Shuttle's about $12 from the Grand Central area, but if they dont' ahve a lot of luggage NJ Transit and Airlink is the way to go--about $3.

You are better than 'google'!!

They are 'hoping' to stay in the Times Sq area (Priceline is not making it easy!) and money counts so the ideas here are wonderful options! I did e-mail one cab that I had taken once in NYC and he quoted $75 PLUS tolls and parking (?) and tip which I thought kinda steep!

Much appreciate the help here! :thumbsup2

That actually, is unfortunately about the price. :faint:
You see each cab, whether from NY or NJ can NOT get a return fare once they've dropped off DD, because they would be out of their jurisdiction when picking up the fare. (NJ cabs cannot pick up people in NY, etc.) So they get to charge DOUBLE the normal rate + all tolls to make up for the return trip.
