I'm trying to figure out the best way to go from Long Beach Airport to Disney's Paradise Pier hotel. I'm going to fly into Long Beach but my DD will be a lap child. I was thinking of not bringing her car seat but now I don't know how I would get from the airport to the hotel without it.

Has anyone flown with a lap child?

I would love any advice about shuttles or what others have done.

Thanks!

I'm bringing my carseats with me. Even if they would let me have her on my lap in the shuttle, it is not very safe if you were to get in an accident. Yes, it's a pain to lug around carseats but it is sooo much safer *if* something were to happen.

I don't think you'll get around the need for a carseat. On our last trip I limited my airport options to LAX or SNA just so I could use the Disneyland Resort Express. It's a big tour bus that doesnt' allow carseats. OTOH, I'm not sure it's very safe either for unrestrainted toddlers. But probably safer than a van or car I'd guess.

Good Luck!

Yes do bring your child's car seat with you, you might be able to use it on the plane if the flight isn't full if it is gate check it (much safer than checking it with your luggage (what if it gets lost/damaged?!?) If budget allows and you're looking for a great travel/2nd seat I highly recommend the Cosco Scenera available at Wal*Mart, Shopko, Target, etc. $40 ~ it's my DD's travel seat, it's super easy to carry on your back (really light)~ I'd be happy to post pics if you'd like, or set it in the stroller and have your child sit in the car seat while your strolling through the airport, I recommend gate checking your stroller as well.

We love LGB! We flew there last month! I used a private driver recommended by another DISer ~ his name is Ron and his business card says VIP Service (Kim Sontha Transportation). The number is (562) 396-8106 (company number) OR the number where he has always answered is 562-895-6713.
If you do an advanced search for Cambodian more posts will come up.

Hope this helps!

I think car seats are very important, but on a bus I'm not sure if it's really necessary. We took the shuttle from our hotel to Disneyland several times and felt safe. The airlines will "gate check" your car seat and your stroller for you. Also you can check with your airline, sometimes they will block a middle seat if the plane is not full. Then you can take the car seat right on the plane with you. We just checked my son's Booster seat with our bags. We got all our bags, but waited and waited for the car seat?!? My husband decided to walk around to another carousal and it had been placed in a section for "odd sized" luggage. Who knew?? Also if I had thought ahead, we didn't need it at all, because we had rented a mini van, and low and behold it had the built in car seats. 2 to be exact! I also saw a lot of what looked like some sort of attachment you could add to your existing car seat. It turned it into a rolling car seat. Similar to the wheels and handle you see on your luggage. Very cool! Families were rolling their kids all over the airport, right in their car seat!:thumbsup2 Maybe others out there know what I'm talking about?? --O.K. I found it online, it's called gogobaby on theportablebaby.com I wish I had something like that when mine were younger. I've also seen something that attaches to the car seat, so that you can carry it like a backpack too. That would be handy also. Sometimes onestepahead.com has some innovative products for baby/toddler travel. But honestly, if you are not renting a car, I think you should be just fine. We landed at the Long Beach airport and it took us about 15 to 20 min. to get to Disneyland. :goodvibes
