I have always driven to Disney. I may be going with a friend who wants to fly down. So what options for shuttles are there. Please tell me your experiences...the good, the bad and the ugly.

If it matters it looks like we will arrive in LAX at about 8:30am. And leaving LAX either 9am or 5:30pm.

I'm researching the same options. We have gotten a rental car in the past. But we are wondering if a shuttle might make more sense for us this time. The only info I've been able to find is this posted on Mousesavers.

"This company, operated by Gray Line/Coach America, offers large, comfortable tour buses. (There is a small company calling itself Disneyland Express that operates vans - watch out, it's not the same company.)
No reservation is required. Payment can be in cash, traveler's checks or by major credit card.
From LAX, Disneyland Resort Express is $22 one way/$32 roundtrip for an adult; $19 one way/$25 roundtrip for a child, plus tip
Disneyland Resort Express from the airport - after picking up your luggage at the airport, proceed out to the pickup location:
At LAX, go to the center island and stand under the overhead green sign. The bus departs hourly between 6:00 am and 10:00 am; every 30 minutes between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm; and hourly between 7:00 pm and midnight
Disneyland Resort Express to the airport - Ask for a schedule at your hotel. Almost all hotels in Anaheim participate, with buses departing hourly starting as early as 5:00 am and as late as 8:00 pm (to SNA) or 9:00 pm (to LAX). The bus will pick up right from your hotel."

Not sure what to do.

we will be doing the disneyland express shuttle also, I hear it takes about an hour, but I found it to be the only option for us and cheap. We do not arrive until 7:30 and Im looking to not get to our motel until after 9:00 since they run every half hour after a certain time. they first stop at the Disneyland hotel then onto others.

Teatime, where did you find the list of hotels in order of where they stopped? In other words how do you know they stop at Disneyland Hotel first???

Thanks!

We went with the DLR Express a few weeks ago and NEVER AGAIN. We landed too early to catch a 1/2 hour bus so had to wait a full hour to catch a bus.

The 10:30 AM bus didn't even clear the airport until 11:20 after all the stops at the terminals. Once we got on the road, it seemed to go smooth. If the driver hadn't FORGOTTEN to stop at our hotel. We were the last off the bus, with a travel time totalling 90 minutes. We rolled in to the GCH at straight up 12:00; 3 hours after we landed. So, it took longer to get to the hotel than it did for us to FLY from KC to LAX.

The PP said the D'land Hotel was the first stop, it wasn't for us. He stopped at a few Sheratons and some others off property before he stopped at DLR properties.

On the return trip, the bus was 20 minutes late picking us up at the hotel. Good thing we decided to catch an early bus, just to be on the safe side.

In the future, we're splurging for a towncar service. We're spoiled at WDW by getting off the plane, meeting our Tiffany Towncar driver by baggage claim and then straight to the car and to the hotel. It's going to be worth the extra $$ for us!

Just thought you should hear the ugly!!!!!

Denice/jpeka, Yeah that sounds like just the reason I don't want to take a shuttle. I'm leaning more toward the rental car. Problem with rental cars at LAX, you have to take a shuttle to get to the car companies too. But it doesn't take anywhere near 3 hours!

We are traveling to DL in Oct and this is what I have found. For myself, DH, DD6, and DS 18 mths.

Prime Time Shuttle/Red Vans - They have a summer promo going if you book your reservation before summer is over ( I couldn't get an exact date they said in the beginning of Sept, but to be safe I would book by end of Aug.) KIDS UNDER 12 ARE FREE!!:cheer2: That means you can travel anytime you just have to have your reservation by the end of summer. For our family round trip it will cost $60.00 inc tax.
For one adult age 13 or older is $15 one way.
This is the way we are going.

Super Shuttle- for our family is $90

Disneyland Resort Express - is $83.00

I also found out the shuttles are considered Mass transit and don't require car seats for infants even. It makes me nervous, but do I really want to carry it with us?

Hope this helps sorry it's so long.

I have the same problem. I would love to hear more options as it is just me and my daughter.. Carseat? ya or no? She is 3

We are flying in Friday, November 20th and after some research decided I would do a towncar or limo. There are 4 of us and it was going to be just a bit more for us to take a towncar or limo. We actually ended up with a limo from XTC - I don't know anything about this company except some reviews from other websites which appeared pretty good. I opted for the driver to meet us at Baggage Claim - which does cost a bit more as they have to park and pay for that - but with two small kids in tow it made sense.

I don't believe that (the info, not you...you're just saying what you found) for even a second.

Car Seats and Pets

While laws vary from state-to-state, we at SuperShuttle support the strongest safety standard by recommending that small children 5 years and under be secured in a child restraint seat for transportation. Additionally, SuperShuttle does not provide child restraint seats. It is the reponsibility of a child's parent or caregiver to provide the Child Restraint System when transporting children in van and/or taxi cabs.

The shuttle vans have seatbelts, therefore you use carseats.

The buses however, are like any coach bus. No seatbelts, just like at WDW I hear. Therefore, no carseats.

The arrival time is tricky when using Grayline, most definitely! We got there just too late...we could have hurt ourselves to get our bags and out, but I'm sure we would'nt have made it. So we took our time, dawdled, etc, for the bus coming next (an hour later). Since I knew that was going to happen it wasn't as big a deal as it could have been if I didn't expect it. We also ended up walking up a few terminals, to stop the boredom and to get on the bus a couple minutes earlier.

It's pretty weird that the PP's bus didn't stop at DLH first, that's what they are supposed to do to work out transfers and such and payment. Strange.

The mousesavers thing mentioned the shuttle van calling themselves DE, oh yes, we saw them, AND we saw a BUS pretending to be DE! I pulled out my printed voucher, though, and they ran away. They're looking for the people who have not paid online, who can't really hear what they are saying in the loud drive area that you wait in...I read that some of them will actually carry a DE brochure (they do it to say they charge the same, but of course it LOOKS like they ARE DE). Our voucher caused them to leave us alone, yay.

I've used SuperShuttle, rental car, and DE for LAX. All have good and bad points. I'd use any of them again!

.

I just went onto the Prime Time Shuttle website and it says on there that kids that are required to be in a car seat by law must ride in them on the shuttle. Did you talk to someone or did you find the information out elsewhere? I am interested because we have always taken the DL Express so that we don't have to bring the carseats. It would be nice to have a cheaper option.

My mum and I are arriving on the 9th Sept and we are organising a Shuttle from LAX to the Peacock Suites, any ideas??

I had read that and called 1800-733-8267 the reservation line for Prime Time shuttle. I wanted to find out if they had car seats you can rent for the ride. The employee I spoke with told me car seats are not required. I said I have a son that will be 18mths when we travel. She then said they are considered mass transit and car seats are not required. The DL Express is it a bus or a van? Sorry to cause problems. That's just what I was told by the employee.

PhatKat, Didn't mean to imply that you had caused problems at all. I was merely wondering if you had found the information about the carseats from a different source as the website said carseats were required.
I am currently planning transportation for my group for our trip in November. My kids are both still in carseats, but I don't want to bring them (the carseats- I am bringing the kids :thumbsup2) on the trip. The Prime Time shuttle would be a bit cheaper than the DL Express, so I was just wondering if it would be an option for us. Thanks for the info.

No Big deal. I didn't want to bring car seats either that's why I called. I like the idea of it being cheaper, but am still worried about no car seat for the 18mth old. I may just have to bring my own (better to be safe than sorry).

I just found this on the Prime Time Shuttle website, I am also in the predicament of a toddler and no car seat as we are flying international, excess baggage and all that

TRAVELLING WITH KIDS
PRIME TIME SHUTTLE welcomes the opportunity to serve our "junior" passengers. Children two (2) years of age and younger travel free with a paying adult. If making an online reservation, please indicate the number of children traveling so that we can set a seat aside, as California state law does not allow children to ride in the lap of an adult.

If your child is under the minimum age/weight standards set by the state of California, you are required to supply an approved car seat for each child that the law applies to. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian traveling with the child to make sure that the child is in compliance with the California Child Passenger Restraint Requirements.

New California Child Passenger Restraint Requirements
Effective January 1, 2002

(California Vehicle Code) 27360.

No parent or legal guardian, when present in a motor vehicle, as defined in Section 27315, shall permit his or her child or ward to be transported upon a highway in the motor vehicle without providing and properly securing the child or ward, in a child passenger restraint system meeting applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards unless the child or ward is at least one of the following:
Six years of age or older.
Weighs 60 pounds or more.
No driver shall transport on a highway any child in a motor vehicle, as defined in Section 27315, without providing and properly securing the child in a child passenger restraint system meeting applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards unless the child is at least one of the following:
Six years of age or older.
Weighs 60 pounds or more.

What to do what to do....
