Hi,
Just been watching NASA TV and it looks like the launch of Discovery has been postponed due to a fuel cut off sensor reporting a problem. At this stage they don't know when they will try again.

BBC have said that if they don't manage to launch before the weekend they may have to wait until September, although the reporter admitted that nothing was certain.

I wonder if they could delay until the first two weeks of August ;)

It says on the Skynews website that the launch window is only until the end of July due to the orbit of the space station. However, when it is re-scheduled, it will be a daylight flight as Nasa wish to photograph the ascent.

I notice from the Nasa website also that Atlantis has a launch window of Sept 9th to 24th for its next mission. I arrive in Orlando on 18th Sept so lets hope I catch it.

On our first visit in 1999, we saw the launch of the shuttle during May from our villa backlot at 6am. Desipte being 40ish miles away it was a stunning sight and via my Camcorder zoom, was able to pick out the craft ascending very nicely.

This year though, If I've got the chance I will be driving a little nearer to view the event.

NASA have confirmed that the launch has been postponed to at least Monday (the 18th).

Oh I hope it goes during our stay...I know there was a rocket launch in Sep which we were hoping to watch, but to see a live shuttle launch would really top the holiday.
Plus my twin sis who my DH and I are taking with us is a real Si-FI freak and she'd love it.

Its gettin' closer

Really hoping for Monday july 18th since we have been planning to spend that day at KSC for months.

Over the last 1o years we have had several trips planned around a shuttlelaunch. We have even had entry passed to the launchview area when those were available for free. So far we have not managed to see one single launch, so we just gave up trying to schedule anything.

Having the shuttle launch on the 18th would be a dream come true :goodvibes :Pinkbounc

Can you get onto KSC on launch day without a specific ticket?

No but there are plenty of spots outside KSC where you still have a clear view of the shuttle launch. I know - I have spend too many hours standing there ;)

Almost there......
