Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a fee associated with just going to get a portrait taken at Shutters during our cruise? I know we would have to pay for any pictures we chose, but is there a "sitting fee?" and if so, around how much?

I leave in just under 30 days for my first cruise!

It depends. They set up backgrounds in the evenings and those are "free". Some have the ship in the background. Some are plain black, blue, white, etc. There are no sitting fees for those type of portraits. Then you can choose to buy them if you want to. AND I would recommend getting there EARLY, EARLY, EARLY and waiting. They take a long time doing those pictures and they cut the lines off, so if a family with 6 kids is in front of you...it could be a while and you may miss your dinner seating. They will photograph each kid individually, then all the kids, then the family, then mom and dad alone, then mom with kids, then dad with kids, then the whole family...it take a long time...add in junior having a tantrum and it REALLLLY takes a long time. I would see them setting up at like 3 and ask when they were starting and I would plan to be there 30 minutes prior and I would just wait til they were ready. They are some of the best pictures we have ever had done.

Now, if you want a private shoot elsewhere on the ship, or off the ship, there are fees associated with that, or if you want large group shots, there are fees for those as well.

Thanks for that great info! it's just my husband and I, and we're only doign a tiny three day cruise (wanna test the waters to see if i will get seasick). I'm debating if we want to bring our really fancy dress clothes for pictures or not.

I get mega sea sick...like I got sea sick while we were still tied up to the pier (and we were on the ship 15 days!). Its bad. When we hit rough waters and everyone else was green, I was fine. What I found SAVES me is a little portable hand held battery operated fan. They are only a few bucks. One night, I even hung it on a ribbon from a magnet on the ceiling and had it hang in my face as I slept. I loaned it out to another person when the seas got rough. It helped her too. They are nice to have on excursions too. :) Have a wonderful time.
