we just reserved a 30 minute session on board the Fantasy for the portrait studio. Has anyone else done this? I know the photos are not included in the price of any photo package, so we were wondering how much the photos cost. There is no fee for the 30 minute private shoot.

I'm afraid I can't help with DCL, but we did a complimentary photo shoot on Princess in 2015. Maybe this can get you a ballpark pricing. We got digital copies of 4 photos and two 8.5x11 prints and they cost (are you sitting down?) $1200. We bought them because we had been trying for years to get an excellent family photo, and these were truly outstanding. It is, hands down, the best family portrait we've ever had.

I bet I can guess what you gave as gifts for the holidays that year!

OP How did you book the private session? I've never heard of this.

I recently sailed on the Wonder and someone in our fb group had a private portrait session done. These were the prices she posted, all for digital files on USB drive: 5 photos for $550, 12 photos for $900, 100 photos for $2500. She also mentioned that only black & white was available and that color was not an option.

I understand the nostalgia of getting this pics on the ship, and potentially if you're meeting family there who won't be around before/after the cruise but those prices are insane. We met my sisters family on the ship and got lucky on formal night. We got an outstanding picture of all of us with Cinderella. We each bought a copy for $20 or whatever the per picture price was.

When we checked in for our cruise on the Fantasy in September it was an option - we booked a sitting for 30 minutes. No charge for the sitting.

I did hear about only black and white...we think it will be fun, if we don't like the photos then we just won't buy - those are expensive but in line with most professionals I think. Portraits can be so expensive. Thanks for the information!
