My DD needs a family picture for preschool ... the only one I can find is one we purchased from Shutters on our cruise last month. It would work perfectly if I crop out the Disney border.

I looked on the back of the picture and it only says "Kodak Royal Digital Paper." None of the "Professional Images or Do Not Copy" stuff ... so, I'm wondering if I can get a copy of the picture made at Walgreens or something? I don't have my receipt from Shutters, does that say something about copying?

There is a Shutters Release available online... and no doubt another DISer will have that link ready to post. I haven't needed it in awhile but you can do an internet search for it and the link will come up. Then you can copy it anywhere without a problem. Many times I've never been asked to provide the release.

Also, if you scan the picture and send it electronically to be printed at one of those stores, it won't be a problem either.

Good luck!

looking at the Image web site more closely, I don't see DCL as one of the current lines (used to be) so the supplier may have changed in which case I haven't a clue as to where to get the release but I do know Wlagreens stc will want one. I have been asked before for it.

You could just scan it and print it out on some nice photo paper.

I won't tell anyone if you don't. ;)

Both the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are listed in the drop down screen of the link you provided.

I had absolutely no problem printing copies of DCL/Shutters pictures via Shutterflly.com (which offers pick up in Target stores). In fact, I included all of my Shutters pictures in a 12x12 photo book. I had the release ready to present yet never found anywhere to send it. I'm sure if the OP prints up that release, it will suffice.

Also, to the OP..you can always crop out the Disney border and upload your picture to Walgreens (or whichever photo lab you use) online. They'll print it and mail it to you or have it ready for pickup up.

Many drug stores now have stand alone machines that will allow you scan, crop and print in various sizes on photo paper. you don't need these things in your house for an occasional need. I've found the price reasonable altho sometimes end up going to 2 or 3 stores to find one that's 'working'

local WALMART has 'em too....

no one looks at what you are copying. I doubt you'll ever run in to trouble as long as the use of the picture is 'non-commercial' ... don't sell it to an advertizing company.

Ahh, I see that now (the drop down with the ships). I have been asked for the release when I was making copies so it is not hard to print it out and carry it with you. There is no charge for it (at least there didn't used to be)> I'd rather be prepared than get sent home to get it & waste a trip.

I have had trouble with Wal-Mart everytime. I basically have to sign my life away after I show them the copyright release.

Thanks for the information and the link!

I tried to print it at home, but it looks pretty bad ... my scanner and printer aren't that great.

I would get the release if you want to make prints. Many big chain stores have been sued over allowing people to make illegal copies of professional photos, so it all depends where you go. In my local stores they watch the machines like a hawk, and always flick through when people go to pay to make sure they are personal prints - WHICH I LOVE. I am a photographer, so I fully respect copyright laws and understand why they are there (and liken people who cheat photographers by copying photos to people who shoplift...it's stealing either way- even if it's for personal use, even if you did at home, even if the photo doesn't say "do not copy" it's still breaking copyright laws to scan/reproduce/print professional photographs without a release from the photographer/photo studio - that is someone's livelihood and how they support their family).

But not to rant :lmao: ...if they allow a release to make copies then by all means go for it...but I'd bring it with you because otherwise the lab might not let you have your prints.

i used the above release after my vow renewal last month..Target took it no problem
