Cost-wise they are about the same and the menus are pretty similar too, sooooo.....which would you choose?

Shula's. Always. I have never had a less than magnificent meal at Shula's. I can't say the same for Yachtsman.

Ditto^^ Both are good, but Shula's is better.

Another personal recommendation for Shula's - we've been to both, multiple times.

Is the quality of their steak better or is it the seafood or other selections that make it better? I had the same question as OP and would really prefer the one with the tastier steak, as I don't eat seafood. Also, I noticed that Yachtman's has more selection on their children's menu and Shula's does not include steak for the kids. Can you get a kid's steak at Shula's?

We have been to both a couple times lately (locals). Both times Shula's dropped the ball and Yachtsman was terrific.

This seems to vary over time. Sometime the restaurant just has the hot hand while others are slumping.

Next year I may have it the other way around, but for now it's not even close. Yachtsman Steakhouse for me.

You're asking to compare a "Dennys" to a 5 star restaurant here. Shulas should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Yachtsman as Shulas is far and away superior. At least that's how it used to be? Yachtsman is a joke!

Hahaha!!!! Oh that's so wrong.

Shula's served me shrimp cocktail that was right out of boiling water... One should never burn the roof of their mouth on shrimp cocktail.

Lobster??? They serve that tough Australian crap.

We stay at the Yacht Club and have eaten at Yachtsman Steakhouse several times. It has always been outstanding. This year we are trying Shula's to try something different. I'll let you know how it is in October.

Whoever said cost is the same, at least for our eating habits Shula's is much more expensive. Not close really.

Our vote is for Shula's too...but split the sides...the baked potato is the size of a football!

I loved the mushroom side dish...it had at least five different varieties of mushrooms baked in butter - very tasty.

The service at Shula's is flawless...we felt pampered.

For a special treat order the Chocolate Souffle when you order your entree. They bake it while you eat the main course and deliver it when done. Warm souffle with creme anglaise, ice cream and whipped cream in little side dishes...truly an amazing dessert.

We split that too and still couldn't finish our meals...the staff was very helpful in packing up what was left over...just a wonderful evening.

We'll be back!

Yes, Shula's is more expensive. I'm not sure I would be tempted to eat any kind of seafood at a steakhouse, but that's just me. I live in NE, so we seldom order lobster or such when we travel outside of NE. On the other hand, if you have it on your menu, it should be decent.

As for my experiences....my beef has always been better at Shula's. The first time I ate at Yachtsman, it was with a group of about 8. Our server was very pleasant and able. I ordered my meal, asking for my steak to be cooked medium rare. The person next to me ordered her's well done. Well.....my meal was the last of the 8 to be served. Not by a lot, but still, the last one out. When I cut into my steak, it was a hockey puck...as was the person's next to me. But, that's what she ordered. My big mistake was in not trying to find someone to correct the mistake. I waited for our server to return to see if everything was fine....like most servers do about 5 mins or so after meal delivery. He didn't return, I didn't see him anywhere. So, I sat there, picking at my veggies. When he finally returned, just about everyone else was close to finished! I told him my steak was practically inedible..he apologized profusely and said he would return it to the kitchen and get me a replacement. I told him no, if that happened, everyone would be eating dessert and I would be starting my dinner and we had someplace to be. I would have thought that some amount of my bill would be taken off, but no. I paid the full amount for a meal of veggies. I left no tip, others did.
The second time I ate there, it was two couples. We wanted a nice meal, against my better judgement, I booked us there. Well...our server was quite cheery and anxious to help...until he asked for our drink order. I have a glass of wine with dinner usually, but since no one else was drinking, I had soda water. That server's attitude changed as if it had been on a switch! He delivered our sodas 10 mins later. Our meals took forever. After we finished eating, it took nearly 15 mins for him to ask if we wanted dessert. Oh and his demeanor? Almost surly. He got a 10% tip. Oh, and my steak was full of gristle!!! Not good at all..

However, the three times I've eaten at Shulas, it has been wonderful. The food has always been prepared correctly, the servers have been attentive and fun. For me, there is no comparison.

It's a case of fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. There won't be a third time at Yachtsman.

I would choose Shula's over Yachtsman because I think the steaks are better. To me, Shula's is a steakhouse in the traditional sense whereas Yachtsman is a restaurant that has steaks. It's good, but there's a difference. We don't have kids so I don't know about that part.

Shula's doesn't really have a children's menu - kids can get a roasted chicken breast or a burger, they don't offer a child sized steak - but my 10 year old eats off the adult menu so that's not a problem. I was leaning towards Shula's because they have crab cakes and the chocolate lava cake and for the most part this post has confirmed my choice.

I would pick Shula's. We've been to both but Shula's we go to every trip. Yachtsman was nice, food was good. Shula's is a different league. The atmosphere is better, the service incredible and the food is very, very good. My son has eaten from their kids menu every trip and it's been excellent too. Shula's is my favourite restaurant on property!
