I have not been to Shula's yet, we'd like to try it....
I was shocked to see a 48 oz steak! There are actually a lot of steaks in the 30 plus oz range!
Can someone tell me if this is supposed to be ordered for one person? Or would we order one of these to be sliced and shared by the table?

There are those who can polish off the whole thing by themselves.

You could split it I guess, but they do have a smaller porterhouse, which is what I always get. Not sure how they might slice up a porterhouse to be shared---you might have to do it yourself.

The cuts are certainly generous at Shula's, so bring your appetite.

I've been to the one in Chicago and there are some sizeable special cuts like the bone in prime rib and the porterhouse. The bone does account for some of the weight, but they looked like mini roasts to me! LOL. I had the filet, which was perfect. There is a split plate charge on the menu. However, I think that is if they plate it on 2 different plates. See:

I think if one of you ordered a salad and one ordered the entree, you can share without formally requesting it.

The sides are quite copious as well, we try and share what we like to accompany the star of the show "the beef". Try as I might to stay away from the appetizers, I am addicted to the Tartare, so with that and my favorite cut, the NY strip, along with a shared side of creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms, I eat salad the next day!

but you could certainly share, if you wanted!

Do you get a free meal or t- shirt for finishing that 48oz steak by yourself? If not, you should.

My In-laws had dinner there while we were at WDW in December. They split one of the large steaks and still had left overs that we enjoyed for several days afterward. The appetizers are huge as well. Enjoy.

I could be wrong, but it used to be marketed as a porterhouse for 2- which means no sharing charge and they slice it for two

Don't you get some sort of certificate for finishing a 48 ounce porterhouse by yourself?

1) You join the 48-Ounce Club.
2) Your name is posted and searchable on the Shula website.

LOL, too funny!
Isn't that what we all aspire to? To prove to the world that we have officially achieved gluttony? 1 down, 6 to go!

I saw that steak on Man Vs. Food at Shula's in Miami I think it was. That guy didn't finish it so I'd reckon you could split it between a couple adults. Price-wise, you may want to also!
