I think the rest of the nation caught up to California's fish/shrimp taco trend 20+ years ago. It's not the idea of fish or shrimp in a taco that offputting, it's the fact that Taco Bell is doing the cooking!!
Yep. Many nice restaurants and Most mexican restaurants around here offer fish tacos. It IS the idea of it being Taco Bell that is repulsive.
Fish or shrimp tacos or burrito from a local seafood place in FL=delicious.
I'm always shocked that people eat at Taco Bell in the 1st place and even more surprised that people would order shrimp from them! Food poisoning waiting to happen indeed!
It isn't the idea of fish or shrimp in a taco that is the problem at all. I can get those anywhere even if it saddens my Texas heart. It is the fact that it is Taco Bell cooking seafood that is disgusting.
Trust me, you'll never see me at Long John Silvers or ordering a Filet of Fish or any other product of the sea from a fast food restaurant.
Rubio's is awesome (we have them here in Northern California, too)! But they're more of a 'fresh' fast food type of place and fish is their specialty. The thought of getting shrimp from Taco Bell skeeves me...I LOVE shrimp and order it often at seafood restaurants, but even then I'm a bit nervous about eating it because it's SO easy to mishandle...Taco Bell handling shrimp? No thank you.
