Hey all!

DH and I are going to Orlando in Feb 2009 and have done some talking and we are considering doing US or IOA. I have a quick question for all of you experts. DH is a big guy tall 6'3 and he has a bit of a belly (since people on the disney boards say pooh sized I'll make a Universal comparison he is probably Shrek sized.) I know DH will love the park loves movies and TV shows. He loves thrill rides is he going to have any trouble fitting on any rides? He fit into everything at Disney except the virtual roller coster at disney quest. He might not have fit comfortably but he fit...

Any advice or tips would be great! TIA!

shrek size......:rotfl2: you kill me....

all i can suggest is to read some of the past posts on page 1 and 2 of this forum.
there have been many threads asking the same thing and many replies to it.

some give the size, height and weight they are so you can figure out if your shrek will not have an issue for the rides.

in front of some of the rides are the try out seats.
have shrek sit in them to see how the fit is for him.

i know the hulk has rows 3 and 6 with the extended seatbelt for those that have more girth to them.

if i had time, i would pull up metro west's post where he shows the pictures of those seats that are in front of the ride entrance.

Actually, I call myself Shrek all the time. I'm 6'3" and come in about 285. My gut has grown but I also have large shoulders so I'm just pretty much a human Shrek.

I don't have much problems with most the rides at both parks. Here are the ones to watch out for:

US-
1.Make sure he sits in the front row of the Simpsons unless he wants a concussion.

That's it for my problems at US. Mummy is no problem and nothing else is a tight fit.

IOA-
1. Hulk, make sure you get in the 3rd or 6th row in the "large" Seat. I still have a tight fit in those, but I can make it good enough
2. Dr. Doom is a NOT do. I can't get the buckle to click. They really need to get the extenders like they have on airplains on this one.
3. Ripsaw Falls is a real tight fit, but I'm still okay. I just look like Shrek sitting in a Smart Car.
4. Dueling Dragons same as Hulk

That's pretty much the only issues in that park for me. Like I said, I'm just a big guy that has a gut and it sounds like he's the same as me. Hope this helps.

I can't find it either! But...here are the pictures of the test seats on ROTM, Dueling Dragons and Hulk. On DD and Hulk...each train in rows 3 and 6 have what I like to call "big boy seats" that have two seat belt buckles instead of one. There is only one seat per row on 3 & 6 and it's the third seat over if you are on Hulk and Ice but the second seat from the far side on Fire. The difference is Fire runs in the opposite direction than Hulk and Ice.

On ROTM, there is no overhead harness so there is no seat buckles...just a lap bar. You would pull the lap bar down and if the bar comes down to a certain point, the attendants will send the vehicle on it's way. If not, you would be loaded into the back row where there is greater leg room.

Again...here is what to look for:

which seats are the 2 belted seats?
are there only one in each row 3 & 6?

if so, which one is it? in order from nearest to farthest getting in? ( would help to know so places are chosen while in line)

the TM will assist you in getting those seats that you need.
you don't have to worry about positioning yourself in advance.

i was in one of those rows, sat down, did the belt and waiting for the ride to start.

the TM came to me and said i needed to switch seats so another guest could use my seat.

once everyone is seated and if a guest can't fit in the seat they are in, the TM's will move the people around so everyone can ride.

yea , but I didn't want it to look like a BIG deal.
( I would feel like, the TM is calling attention to ,, "hey,, chubbo here needs the BIG seat") having to MOVE people around after seating , would just make me feel

See my post above. ;)

Thanks everybody I just want to make his experience memorable because he had a great time on the rides not memorable because he was embarrassed.

they are good the way it is dealt with in relocating guests on the ride.

when the TM said to me, you need to move to another seat, i asked why.

the reply, you'll be switching with another person.
we want to keep their party together.

later after i was off, the TM told me they move people quietly and don't discuss the reason of size openly.

stupid me didn't get it at first when they told me to move, when they said to keep a group together, my first thought was.......do they think i am a line jumper.......:rotfl:

Last trip I was asked to move to the larger seat, and they told me "due to my size, it was for my own comfort"

Sucked big time. (sad but true)

So this go around we are lineing up in the tubby section ourselves :lmao:

2. Dr. Doom is a NOT do. I can't get the buckle to click. They really need to get the extenders like they have on airplains on this one.
Remember rides have to be safe too. The ride manufacturer for Doom may feel that an extended seatbelt may not be safe, therefore they don't provide it.
