shows or attractions that should close

:sad2: 8 trips to WDW and I've never done Sounds Dangerous :sad2:
People say that one needs to go, but I can't comment since I've never done it.

I only have a couple that I would really like to see go bye-bye
1) Swiss Family Treehouse
2) Backlot Tour

I also would have had Timekeeper on this list, but my wish really did come true on that one :teeth:

I agree with updating some of them, like the beginning of Backlot tour, that's boring.
Also, has anyone noticed that Kali River rapids is way shorter than rides like this at other parks. I never compare Disney to any other parks but jeeez.

I think threads like this are mean. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean someone else won't. I don't believe any attraction in Disney doesn't have at least some fans.

:thumbsup2 I agree.

We just returned from our first trip and my oldest son is a HUGE Stitch fan, and the 2 older kids & hubby actually rode the ride 2 or 3 (can't remember which)times while we were there.

I don't personally care for the Shrunk the Audience thing but that is because I have a HUGE fear of snakes, while my oldest son has a huge fear of bugs up close so he didn't watch the It's tough to be a Bug show while the rest of us did he just sat in the seat with no glasses on & his eyes shut.

And my youngest LOVED Aladdin's magic carpet ride and honestly there wasn't ALOT in that section that he could ride and enjoy *he's a little leery of the dark rides or shooting guns~~especially after we rode the Great Movie ride the day before and it scared him at the gangster part). It sure makes it easier on famililes who have kids of different ages if there are a variety in each section so that ALL have fun ALL the time and not just during certain parts of the park.

I think it's too each his own, if there are other rides you prefer more then go on those and leave the others for other people who may not care for Space Mountain but love Stitch, etc.

Sounds Dangerous.

I don't know how they could close Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, and leave Sounds Dangerous open. :confused3

I do think that Spaceship Earth could use an update because technology has come so far since they first made it - the end should be updated.

The end WAS updated, its much different and more futuristic than it was when it first opened.

Why not? Maybe you should.

Threads like these are interesting because I always hear about how Disney is always better than other parks, when actually, they're not always.

But if no one ever changes their mind and starts to understand that other parks do some things better, then Disney will never improve itself.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm asking out of curiosity so please don't flame me.
But, Do most of you dislike Stitch's Ride because you don't care for it as an adult or are you getting the perspectives of your children as well?

My DS (8) absolutely loved Stitch.

I'm just wondering if we look at some of the rides from a to mature standpoint and fail to consider what the children like. Someone suggested closing Small World. In 5 trips to Disney World from when my son was 2 until 8 we have probably ridden that ride 50 times (no exageration)! He will hate that ride as a teenager, but should we take it away from a whole series of children who have yet to experience it. (BTW my wife and I sing at the top of our lungs all the way through the ride, which gets pretty humorous when they start singing in other languages and we don't speak any of them).

I do agree with closing Sounds Dangerous. It is a time killer only.

personally i have been going to wdw since there 5th year so i have seen alot of changes, i would love to see everything go back to its original version, thats the wdw i fell in love with , there were some changes after i took my daughter for her first time, which was sad at the time and it still is, and my grandson will never see the original versions, way back my favorites use to be carosel of progress which thankfully the still have , mr toads wild ride, and world of motion, im not that old im only 50 but even though i do not care for the fast type of rides and i do love dinasour, i think wdw if they keep going they way they are will lose some of their magic and will be right up there with six flags, it seems the shows were better when wdw first opened more magical i felt, i remember they had the live shows too i remember seeing john schnieder from the dukes of hazzard singing on the stage outside of where the buzz lightyear attraction in tommorrowland is, also im not real fond of the castle changing colors every night all the time either, i dont think they should do with splash mountain though, or big thunder railroad, the milder fast rides are ok, i remember telling my daughter dont worry about the rides in wdw they dont have anything there that will hurt you, now they have rides that can kill you if you dont know you have a pre exxisting condition, i feel they need to go back to the simpler way of time and life to me thats what the disney magic was all about that was fantasy, and isnt that what it is really all about?

Shows like Mermaid are not going anywhere; neither will Small World or Country Bears, these are quite popular attractions. Why would Disney mess with rides and attactions that are really popular? :confused3

Sounds Dangerous is always mentioned, for a reason. This one will not be around much longer.

The speedway is also mentioned a lot. I don't think this will go because it is mostly operating at capacity, but I do think they will revamp it to incorporate the movie "Cars" into the attraction.

My personal attraction I feel needs to go big time is:

Snow White's Scary Adventures

This ride is super crappy and scares the crud out of the very audience it appeals to most (preschoolers). Fantasyland is ripe for a high quality princess themed ride in this spot.

1) Sounds dangerous
2) tiki room
3) stitches great escape

These have to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've yet to do Stitch, but I'm going to check it out this time to see just how bad it is. It was in soft opening my last trip and even the CM in the queue snuck me a "skip it" when no one was looking.

I'm one of the probable rare few that is happy WWTBAM is gone, but it's because I never thought it belonged anyway. To me that was the flagship attraction for things built just to hype the latest fad.

SE, Ellen, Star Tours, Honey, and Muppets could all use new film/minor upgrades for new technology, but I don't think that the attractions themselves should be changed. JITI definitely needs a complete and total overhaul. I think the replacement of films at WS is just a given.

Absolutely - the "new" Tiki Room! WTH?? It's so awful!! I'd love the original to come back.

And. yep, Sounds Dangerous needs to go. I like Drew Carey, but that show is so boring.

And I do think the Backlot Tour has lost so much. I remember when the tour took hours when MGM first opened! You learned so much and, SURPRISE, they were actually filing things there.

I love the Tiki Birds! I like the old show and I like the new show. DD likes the addition of Iago and Zazu. I think they did a really good job with the update. They kept key aspects and added new ones that incorporated into the whole.

I don't see this one going anywhere, I put this into the same class as Small World, Peter Pan, COP, Pirates, HM, Country Bears, classic Disney attactions that will be updated from time to time, but never removed.

1) Stitch
2) Tiki Room
3) Swiss treehouse
4) snow white (I like Alice at DL better)

I would love for them to bring Ininana Jones ride to MGM

Yes, I agree with this. Even though I don't like it, I am quite aware that it is a classic and favorite of many.

My bottom 5 to get rid of or at least radically change:

1) Backlot Tour at MGM - nothing going on in the Backlot anymore

2) Sounds Dangerous at MGM - it was a good gag once - I think it has been there long enough that anyone who has wanted to see it has - change it up (having said that it is a great place for an airconditioned nap)

3) Canada movie at Epcot WS - what an embarrasment to my country - that movie is ancient - time for an update! :furious:

4) The lazy river at BB needs to have the tubes upgraded so that the kids have a tube they can sit in when they are too small to sit on the tube

5) HISTA needs a change as well - time for that to go

Cheers

After having just returned from nine days at WDW, here are my top five picks for spaces that could be put to much better use:
1) Sounds Dangerous at MGM - as many others seem to think.
2) Ellen's Energy Adventure at EPCOT - keep the dinosaurs, get rid of everything else.
3) Test Track at EPCOT - I can honestly say this was the most disappointing ride ever. Maybe it was because of all the hype, but I was expecting something much better than a boring ride in a car.
4) Indy Speedway at Magic Kingdom - this always seems so out of place at the Magic Kingdom. The way it sits between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, it's like even Disney wasn't quite sure how it fit in. Maybe with a Cars revamp (as some have suggested), but as it is it's just a big waste of space.
5) Who Wants to Be a Millionaire at MGM - yes, I know that is has closed already, and I'm really glad.

I also agree that some of the other attractions (HISTA, Star Tours, Backlot Tour) could use some updating, but I would definitely not like to see them go.

I personally don't care for the Indy Speedway, I haven't ridden it in over 20 years. For some reason it is really popular.

To me it is very unDisney, I think a "Cars" revamp would help.
