There has been a change to our plans since there is now no Wishes fireworks on Jan. 29, my daughters 7th birthday. She is so bummed, since Wishes was her one birthday request. I was trying to come up with an alternate plan but neither 1900 Park Faire or Chef Mickeys have openings for ADR's.

If we show up at 1900 Park Faire without an ADR, what is the possibility of getting seated? And any idea of a wait? Or do you have other ideas about where to try for a good, fun birthday dinner for her? Thanks in advance.

Instead of just showing up, I would ask the front desk staff/concierge if you can make an ADR when you get down there. There may be cancellations. It would be really hard for your daughter to get all the way to GF and not be able to go in.

We're not staying onsite, but I guess I could keep checking closer to the date.

I would say there is always a chance, but I'd want a back up plan. As the pp said, keep trying especially once you get to your resort. It's amazing sometimes what becomes available.

We did walk up to 1900 Park Faire in June and only waited 10 minutes at most. Everywhere else we had tried that day was either not accepting any more walk ups or had waits of over an hour.

If you do decided to try the walk up approach, maybe someone can distract your DD and let her think you're just "checking out the GF". That way if you can't get in, she won't be as disappointed.

They start serving dinner at 4:30 so that might be an opportune time to walk in.

Maybe you can take her to another restaurant that she would enjoy. Are you going to the Pirate's and Princess party that night? I have not seen but heard those fireworks are better than wishes. Maybe you could suprise her with that? :cool1:

Is this because of the P&P. Keep your fingers crossed, as they might do Wishes before the park closes at 6:45. They did last winter. Even though it does not show up on the calendar, you never know!:yay:

I'll keep my fingers crossed for an impromptu Wishes that night then. No, we're not going to PPP. :sad2:

I don't know if this is true but a concierge told me the restaurants open up seats three days before your trip. I called for 1900 PF for weeks and was ot able to get an ADR, but 3 days before my trip a few times opened up. Keep calling and you may get lucky.

It is a Pirate and Princess Party night. Not sure if that is something you would want to do on her birthday. Here is a link to the DIS page on the party

There is a fireworks show and 2 parades that night during the party. (The party is prob another reason that all the restaurants in the area are booked)

Yes, I knew it was PPP night, but we really didn't think the extra $$ for the party was worth it so we opted not to go.

I agree, it is alot, IMHO. Fortunately, we do not have kids, so no one is interested in going :)

Good luck on getting a ressie that night

Not a meal, but how about an appointment at the BBB to get made up like a princess? You could also try these Princess meals:

Cinderella's Royal Table
Story time Princess Meal in Norway at Epcot

Also consider breakfast or lunch meals. We settled for lunch at Coral Reef and it was fantastic. We were starved, it was a great respite for the park, nephew got a kick out of the tank, we got seconds on our bread basket and cleaned our plates of the meals. We had a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's and it was great too.

I've read fun things about Cape May at the Beach Club (Mickey is there).

Cape May has a great breakfast buffet with characters, but Mickey is not one of them. Chip & Dale, Goofy & Minnie are there in their beach attire. There are no characters at dinner.

Don't plan on walking up anywhere in Sept. I have have been for several trips in Sept and ever since free dining started, I have never seen a restaurant take walkups. I have seen, however, a LOT of MAD people who didn't realize that they couldn't just walkup. People who wouldn't normally eat at a TS restaurant (due to cost )take advantage of it. Your best bet is to keep your fingers crossed for cancellations and keep calling.

Although it was not free dining time we were there last week and at every one of our TS choices they were seating walk-ups right away or within an hour and a half (at Ohana). We were suprised as we had been advised that during peak season ADR's would be needed to get seated so we made them for the first time ever before we left home (about a month out). At any rate it might be tougher during free dining and I am sure the character meals are very popular venues but keep trying to call ... something might open up.

Why no "wishes" on the 29th?
