hey all,

We're going tent camping in April and I have a question about the showers. How long do you typically have to wait in the morning get one, and would it be better if we got them at night when we come back from the parks? Are they open 24/7? Don't want to miss park time because we could have planned better...

Thanks for any input!

They are open 24/7. We didn't find them too busy morning or night. We were in full hoop up though and many people over there have their own showers. We have a motorhome, but it's faster for the kids to shower at the comfort station than to wait for the hot water tank to fill again, and again, and again. ;) I imagine the partial hook up sites may be a little more crowded, but I've never heard anyone complain too much about it here.

They are a little crowded around 8am, give or take an hour. Just get in line and it goes fast. Or, do what we do and hit the shower at 9am. You miss park opening, but also miss the crowded bath house. At night they usually are not crowded either, but at the end of the day, you may just want to climb into bed. Although, a nice hot shower may just hit the spot.

They are open 24/7, but between midnight and 6am you need to use your key to the world card to get in.

Happy Camping!

shower question at FW

I can't resist.......

YES! You can take showers & would be greatly appreciated by all around you!! :rotfl2:

I personally have found that, since showering cuts into valuable park time, I skip showers while at FW. As the week goes on, I have found that, despite posted wait times of over an hour and obviously long lines, once I get in line at an attraction it empties right out and I can walk right on! FWGirl has decided to tour parks separately, however. I still don't understand why.

Here's the "flaw" in your plan. You are actually wasting good packing time by showering before you leave. Try cessation about a week before you leave, you will be surprised at the amount of time you'll have.

I save a lot of time packing because I have no need for towels since I started passing on the vacation showers. I do sometimes rinse off at the pool, but I just grab any available and unsupervised towel at the nearest lounge chair. Boy, do I wish FW would put in a hot tub! I could bring down my frankensoap I make from the left over bars I find in the comfort stations and lather up!

FTWGuy....if you collected all the little curly hairs from the frankensoap and got creativewith some duct tape, you could lose that highly fahionable cap you wear in all your pics!!!

I like the cut of your jib, BDRog. I was trying to weave one out of hair I collect out of the drains, but it's too long for me.

Why not get some extra hair from the wonder beagle? That might work! Actually he might be able to help with your personal hygiene too by cleaning you up while you're sleeping. No time lost there!.

Actually, Rog, that might also work as a toupee for the two of us.

I have collected enough hair from the wonder beagle to make a couple extra dogs. The fleas are a bit itchy for toupee use, however.

Sometimes I feel sorry for posters who expect serious answers to questions on this board. I honestly try to wait until after there has been at least one serious answer before I take off. My feeling sorry, however, is fleeting.

Do you know what really makes me sick to my stomach? It's people that put ketchup on Hot Dogs.

Since duct tape comes in many colors now, there is something out there for every complexion!

All7ofyou - We usually wake up early which means everyone in the comfort station by 7:00 and don't usually have a wait at all. Even this past trip when we took our time and got in there at different times each day between 7 and 9ish and the loops were at capacity, we still didn't have to wait. That could be different if large groops are in your loop. I think that even if you have to wait for someone to take a shower, that wait is much shorter than waiting for 7 people to shower in a hotel room. After the speed of getting ready for the day at FW, I want to pull my hair out if we stay at a hotel the last night before we leave.

Speaking of hair, OMG Rog, I will never look at a man with curly hair the same again, ever. I mean hair on his head, oh you know what I mean.

You're all WAYYYYY too funny! Thanks for the tips, and YES, I had considered not showering, and using the pool if the showers got too full. :rotfl2: I know the kids wouldn't give a rip; it's hard enough to get my 17 year old son to take onenat all here at home. He's the one you should all be worried about:lmao:

fun thread-thanks!

mom of potentially stinky kids- lol

Actually it all depends on the population of the loop you're in. If a lot of people need to use the showers then the wait can be a little long. If you go really early or wait until after 9am your wait time will be reduced. Another thing is that a lot of people on the boards rave about how pristine the FW comfort stations are! BULL. They're better than some camp grounds I've stayed in and worse than others -- they are above average though.

The usual problem with a 17yo is getting them out of the shower not getting them in. Or maybe I don't remember correctly -- that could start a couple of years later. Good luck. And don't take any duct tape in with you!

Yeah, we have that problem too! If (I say IF) he gets in, he hogs the entire tank of hot water, and camps in there for a LONG time. Go figure... The duct tape might come in handy for getting the whiners in the group to keep quiet. There's always at least one in the crowd who doesn't like the itinerary you've mapped- AFTER they've said "they don't care, go ahead and plan it all..." :confused3

Happy camping all!
