Does Disney provide these for those that need them? Do you have to be in an accessible room to have them or can we just request them?

I can only speak of our experience at Pop Century. We were able to get a toilet riser for a non handicap room. We didn't need the chair.

I think most people rent or bring their own. Eventually we brought our own, but we did a lot of road trips and we weren't flying. Others may chime in and tell their experience.

You can request both shower benches and toilet seat risers from Housekeeping. You don't need to be in an accessible room. They can't be reserved ahead of time, so there is no guarantee that they will be available.
We have gotten bath benches - they were the very basic, inexpensive bath benches you can get at any home improvement store. If you get any equipment, be sure to check for loose screws/bolts. The bath benches that were brought to us had dangerously loose bolts.

For those reasons (and if you need something less basic), I would recommend renting from an offsite medical supply company. CARE is a good one - you can get their contact information from post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board or from the link in my signature.

This thread is just what I was thinking about last night when I was firming up our trip. I need both and because we are staying off-site I looked around and found the rental places charge more for renting than I could buy them. Because we are driving down, I think I will just take ours from home. My DH will be thrilled. So far I am taking a walker, wheelchair, 2 canes and a scooter and now these items. Good thing its just the 2 of us and we will have a washer and dryer because with all my stuff, room for luggage is getting smaller and smaller.

Yep. We have used Care in the past for equipment, and have had great experiences with them. Probably the most compelling reason to rent from a medical supply house is that you get "real" medical-grade equipment delivered.
