My god...I was actually shocked.
No offense to those that put their girls in pagents...but my word...it just seemed so wrong to me.

And that boy - Shane - his mother? what a pushy witch! Telling everyone
My son was a model when he was little, now getting back into it.
then
My son wants to record a record and be on TV.
then
My son just cut his first record and is starring on TV.
then
My son is a pop idol and starring has a role in a major movie.
then
My son just landed on the moon...

hehehe...ok - not THAT far.

Damn...I could never put my children through that.

and then older blonde girl, Jordan, who was going for auditions...I dunno...I really can't see her in the same league as like Hillary Duff or Lindsay Lohan...kids like that. (I know these 2 are older now - but they were pretty cute/talented when they were younger too.)

What were your thoughts on it if you watched last night?

I wanted to watch QE last night, but I missed it.

Instead, this show was on... Oh my goodness, the little blonde girl and her mom saying that the other girl didn't deserve to win and the mom crying over it. How old is that little girl?

She's FOUR!!! (4!!!!)

Oh - and QE is on at 8 and 10 now I guess...8pm was last weeks episode, 10pm was the new one. (next week at 10 is a re-run FYI)

I know, I was hoping to catch the 10 p.m. show. By the time I was done with all I had to do, it was after 11. I'll try to catch it on Thursday.

I think it's insane to expect a 4 yr. old to pose and smile on request. Childhood is short, let kids be kids. ::yes::

OMG! Yes this show really opens my eyes to how some people treat their children. Imagine putting spray tan on your four year old? I am wondering if they color her hair too? The part that got me was when they were twisting the wires through the little girl's hair and she was crying in pain. You can hear her mother telling her four year old to "suck it up"

The pixie stix for breakfast was so sad. The mother putting on the crown and making fun of the winner's family by waving and pretending to cry was pathetic.

Just so wrong.

I saw the first half. I thought the kookiest of them all was the father who moved his familiy to NYC so his kids could go to auditions. Sounded a lot like Kit Caulkin--Macauly's father.

DId you hear the pagent mom asking the girl if she was a pretty girl? This was right after she woke up in the morning. I thought the girl looked adorable, but she said no! She already thinks she's not pretty unless she's completely made up.

I KNEW I wasn't the only person who would think the people on that show are really strange! The only "normal" people on the whole show are the mom and the 8 year old girl, who was on "That's So Raven." I could NOT live with that weird Nutter dad who moved his whole family to NYC to pursue his big dream of having them all in show business.

When I first saw this show advertised, I told myself I wouldnt watch because I get so angry watching similar shows... but it came on after QE last night and I just had to watch.

Amazing.... and the kid giving autographs like he's some star! WOW.

Do all pagent moms put spray tan on their kids? It never dawned on me that they all look so tan and that may be how they got that way. Or do they make them lie in tanning booths?

It is my new "train wreck" show...can't help but watch it.

The kid who is trying to be Aaron Carter... Did anyone else notice that while they were doing the first meeting with the agent, that the agent would look at the boy and ask a question, and the mother would butt in and answer?! Grrrr, drives me crazy!

Jordan, as far as I'm concerned, if I were her mother and she was THAT ungrateful, we would be on the next flight out to Colorado, where her husband lives. Seems like every other sentence out of her mouth is a put down about her mom, and the mom is very meek with her and lets herself get walked all over.

And the poor little four year old..."Oh yeah, in between things we let her play and be a kid"..."Don't jump you're going to mess up your hair!" And going on and on about not doing the silly face! She's four!!

Hopefully that Duncan Nutter, after watching this show, and everyone in his family saying at one time or another that they go on auditions because Dad wants them to, not because they enjoy it, hopefully he will get a clue.

Confession time. I watched it too. By far, the four year old's "case" was the worst. Can you believe a bathsuit competition for four year olds??!! Fake tans, make up, poses??!!

Moms and dads living vicariously through their children.

But I do think that the 8 year old girl seems to be very talented--and much more mature than my 8 year old boy! LOL.

ooo...that woman was such a witch! She's the epitome of a "stage mom"...I don't even think that the pagent mother - Tye - was as pushy/brazen as Shane's mother.

No the pagents that I have been around ( I am thinking of one in particular) would be deeply disturbed by spray on tan, makeup or flashy "older" clothes for children. Not all pagents are like that.

I think the only one with any talent at all is the little girl with the recurring role on That's So Raven. And she also seems to have the most likeable Mom.

I think the Nutter guy is delusional! Pageant Mom creeps me out--it's OK to give a 4 year old Pixie Stix for breakfast for quick energy?!? She is also really sad the way she stands at the back of the auditorium and "performs" along with her daughter! YIKES!

I also think that the blonde teen-ager is a horrible, ungrateful little brat. I don't understand why anyone puts up with that behavior.

Oh well - - at least my kids are "normal"!

I recorded it last night, but haven't had a chance to watch it. Will tonight then post my thoughts :)

The girl from That's so Raven...was I the only one to cringe when she was rehearsing the scenes before and after of getting molested? Granted,
she seemed to recover rather well after the rehearsal, and the mother was very sensitive to the issue, and I understand that's what acting is all about, but still there was something creepy about it. Call me naive and sheltered.

Oh, Kay! I agree with you. The molestation acting was too much for me to handle. I actually fast forwarded over it.

The whole pagent thing is just too strange for words. How do you judge a 4y/o on a swimsuit competition? That just seems perverse.

Hentob

...it IS perverse to parade little girls around acting like big girls in bathing suits. And why are there so many men hanging around these events? That is wicked strange to me.

YAY! I'm so glad we have a thread on this here at the DIS. This show is horribly disturbing. I think Pa Nutter is gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) not to mention a tad on the delusional/psychotic side. But it is the Tye's story that makes me the angriest...that woman should not be allowed to raise children.
