Well, we just got back from a one week trip to Sarasota, FL. Since my parents spend the winter there, we had free room and board!
This is one of my favorite places to go. As I love nature and photography, it is the perfect place for me to spend a week away from these long New England winters each year. This was the first year with a DSLR and I rented the Sigma 50-500mm lens to capture even better close-ups of the wildlife. The total cost of getting into these three places was like $25. The opportunity to get these shots was priceless to me.
Here are some of my shots:
From Myakka River State Park:
I broke the rules here as I could not get in position to keep the tree limbs from looking like antlers on this red shouldered hawk
Great Blue Heron
Alligator and Little Blue Heron
Limpkin
Wood Stork along SR72 on the way into the park
From the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island:
Great Egret
Little Blue Heron
Reddish Egret
Roseate Spoonbill
Snowy Egret
Yellow Crowned Night Heron
From the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota:
